Book Description

DAM Survival Guide is a digital asset management book that offers a wealth of detailed information you can use to design, plan, deploy, promote and maintain a successful DAM initiative at your organization. Written in a friendly, easy-to-follow style, DAM Survival Guide is a valuable resource for those looking into digital asset management for the first time, or just looking to increase their knowledge of the art and science of DAM.

Starting with an overview of what digital asset management is and isn’t (including a section on why you might not need DAM at all), the book goes on to offer a detailed discussion of everything that’s important for you to know before you get too far with your DAM planning:

• Learn the benefits of wrapping DAM into a corporate initiate you can better manage
• Know how to find and recruit others at your organization who can become great allies
• See how you can benefit from reliable professional help (cheap or even free!), so you can avoiding expensive time-wasters
• Fully understand the needs of your organization, so that you can exceed expectations
• Start thinking about DAM software at the right time, so you can avoid costly purchase mistakes
• Discover tricks to determine which DAM vendors are most favored by customers, most progressive, and most likely to stay in business
• Explore elements of human psychology that can help you overcome change-resistance and increase buy-in

Offering the equivalent of approximately 200 printed pages (~56,000 words), this eBook, published in June, 2012, is packed with useful information the author, David Diamond, has acquired during his 12+ years as a professional in the Digital Asset Management industry.

Note: The Digital Asset Management Survival Guide mentions no DAM software solutions or vendors by name. The book’s contents are unbiased and applicable no matter which DAM solution you determine to be right for you.

About the Author

David Diamond has worked in the field of Digital Asset Management since 1998. In that time, he has written for, spoken publicly for, and directed marketing for one of the industry's oldest DAM vendors.

When that gig ended in the first part of 2012, Diamond wrote DAM Survival Guide--an eBook "brain dump" of the knowledge Diamond acquired during his years on the front lines of Digital Asset Management.

Diamond has held senior management positions at Sony, Apple and University of Southern California. He is an accomplished 3D illustrator and author for Aviation audiences, and a licensed pilot. During the 1980s, Diamond co-founded, recorded and toured with the band Berlin.

He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his partner, Chad.

Diamond's first book, "Flight Training: Taking the Short Approach" is available in print from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other booksellers.

5.0 out of 5 stars DAM Survival Guide June 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I can honestly say this was a pleasure to read. I do social media development for a Digital Asset Management (DAM) company based in Europe. As a marketing creative who is relatively new to the DAM world, my work helped create a sales buzz here in the USA and I have had to launch into a large technical learning curve to keep up with questions and industry conversation. This book helps give me a framework to the unending series of articles and white papers I have been reading. Diamonds writing style and personality keeps the reader engaged and entertained while delivering all the necessary dry components of building a DAM system.
I can't recommend it enough. Read this book first, and then begin sifting through the rest of what is out there.
