Fantastic.

This book delves into the gang ridden underbelly of British society. Grittingly realistic, it follows one family who build from poverty to establish themselves as one of the most prominant gangs in London. Set in an era when the lifestyles followed by the family were rife throughout large portions of England, the book captures the internal struggles within and gives insight into the different minds at work behind gang warfare. A topic that would have been easy to over dramatise and even easier to glorify is treated with care, graphically detailing the torture and psychological problems born out of such a lifestyle.

A wonderful read, gripping from the start and never letting up in intensity throughout. This is a must read for anyone into crime novel, or gritty realism.

Look forward to reading the sequel.

I have to say that I have read tons of Martina cole books and so far this is the best one.
It starts by telling us about Sarah Ryan and her circumstances and then we learn about the rest of her children.
She has eight boys and one girl.
The story is mainly about Maura and how she transformed from being an innocent girl to being one of the toughest criminals in England .
I can't wait to read the follow up which is called mauras game.
Fans of Martina cole will love this book

Every time I read martina cole I think she's been there done that. I worked as a probation officer and it's like opening my files and reading about the colorful people who inhabit them, the language, the families, the way of thought, the beliefs rules and values which are more honest than most. My big dread is that one of these days. martina will lay down her pen

This was the best read I've had in years. Riveting crime story, 'Forsythe Saga' transported to London in the 60's. Bring on the next instalment, 'Mauras girl'

As usual Martina Cole has written another winner, can't wait to get the follow-up to Dangerous Lady which is Maura's Game.

Brilliant writing as always but disappointing ending & some predictable sections of the book. Have read many of Martha's books & highly recommend them :)
