5.0 out of 5 stars Somebody has to write an actual product review instead of an incoherent rant. Thanks but no thanks, Metatron32.
The bulb is very well-packaged. There is little chance of breakage in shipping. The construction of the bulb appears sound and color rendition is excellent. I'm using it in a floor lamp with three one-way bulbs below it. Those bulbs are also daylight CFLs and the light output seems to be an exact match. I greatly prefer daylight CFL bulbs to the yellow-pink color I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective from the start
I am very familiar with fluorescents, started using them frugally years ago (when they were $25 apiece,) now everywhere with few exceptions, i.e. dimmable or decorator bulbs. With first use this Honeywell 3 way bulb would only work on one of the powers. At over $10 I should have returned it, but lazily left it in the fixture. I would surmise that it worked about 2...

This review is from: 3 WAY CFL SPIRAL DAYLIGHT 60K THREE WAY COMPACT FLUORESCENT 10/20/28 WATTS THREE WAY CFL DAYLIGHT COLOR TONE REPLACES 50-100-150 WATT INCANDESCENT BULBS
I greatly prefer daylight CFL bulbs to the yellow-pink color I usually see. I had been looking for a daylight 3-way bulb for a while and couldn't find any in stores.

This bulb also includes a neat feature in the box - extenders for a lamp harp. Almost any CFL bulb has a much wider base than an incandescent. I didn't have any trouble fitting the bulb into my lamp, but since lamps come in so many shapes and sizes this was an excellent item to include. I have not seen this included with a bulb from any other manufacturer.

My only complaint with the bulb is that the middle setting starts out bright and then immediately dims. It does return to full brightness after a minute or two. I don't know if this is an issue with the product or just my specific bulb. The low and high settings do not exhibit the same behavior. Since I'm probably only going to use low and high, this is not much of a concern to me.

With first use this Honeywell 3 way bulb would only work on one of the powers. At over $10 I should have returned it, but lazily left it in the fixture. I would surmise that it worked about 2 weeks being left on 24-7 for most of that time. I was unable to find a good link (for the lightbulbs) to complain to Honeywell, but there was a product complaint forum where several consumers were talking about the unreliability of Honeywell bulbs. It appears that Honeywell doesn't manufacture them, it just lends its name. I have been burning the same two Eco-Smart bulbs on a covered porch almost 24-7 for over 4 years. This is the brand carried by one of the national big box DIY stores.

2.0 out of 5 stars don't do it. it's a toxic fad!, May 18, 2009
This review is from: 3 WAY CFL SPIRAL DAYLIGHT 60K THREE WAY COMPACT FLUORESCENT 10/20/28 WATTS THREE WAY CFL DAYLIGHT COLOR TONE REPLACES 50-100-150 WATT INCANDESCENT BULBS
This bulb is made with more PLASTICS than a regular bulb. Manufacturing these plastics produces DIOXINS that float up into the atmosphere and, through wind currents, land at the polar regions of the earth, dumping toxins on the lands and life there. This bulb is made of MERCURY which cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. It must be taken to a company that specifically handles the TOXIC materials. Instead of people disposing of these properly, the toxic bulbs end up in landfills, adding to the mercury toxicity of landfills and exposure of sanitation workers who don't deserve to be exposed. According to energy star, it is said that this product reduces carbon emissions but, the energy source used in the energy star reports is electricity from COAL PLANTS; nearly the most toxic energy source available. COAL PLANTS release HUGE amounts of carbon and MERCURY into the atmosphere! Buy a regular light bulb. Purchase your power from solar and wind. Think holistically. Would you want to live with this light bulb in your back yard for the next 200-1000 years while it attempts to biodegrade? Protect your home and your temple; this earth and your body. Live clean brothers and sisters! Make conscious, holistic consumer choices. Don't let poorly thought out FADS guider your consumer choices! It's time for American consumers to realize the impact of where they lay down the buck! Live long and prosper!! :)
