With other flatwound bass strings I sometimes got lost in the storm. When I bring the thunder with Chromes I AM the storm.
I use these professionally and regularly on a reissue Fender '51 Precision and they give me the meatiest bass tone I have ever had. They're silky smooth to the touch, as tense as rebar, and full of punchy presence. They are also long lasting and take a while to get to the point that tuning is a problem. I sweat all over these strings and it takes many months before I have any tuning issues or feel the wrapping on the E string start to lose the smoothness it has as when new. Very cost effective! I wish D'Addario would make these in the Super Long scale, like the lighter guage Chromes, because ECB82's will not acommodate the string-thru-body option on the 51 P. The silk wrapping at the end of the strings will not clear the nut and has about a quarter inch overhang. If you have string-thru, consider the ECB81 Super Long Scale. I would switch but I like the heavier guage and tension and I don't know if the tone would be as meaty. I am a very happy Bassman with these strings!

Ever since I bought a set of these, I won't play on anything else. I've played a few other brands but the D'Addarios are lightyears ahead in both sound and feel.

An Excellent set of bass strings. They seem to have a better tone and more consistent tone from string to string versus the strings I had before. They also hold their tuning better. Being flat wound they are more comfortable to play. I can play longer without my fingers getting sore.

When I orderd this set of flatwounds for my bass,I was mis-informed by some sales guys at two or three music stores locally. So I ordered these strings and found out that they were the wrong size for my violin bass. After contacting the seller,he informed me that they were the wrong strings and he offered to take them back, but I also have a long scale bass that I just purchased and these strings will work on my long scale bass.I do have the proper size flatwound strings on my violin bass and they sound great. They are the very same strings as these are here, but in the medium scale and a lighter gauge.I can't wait until I can get these strings here onto my solid body bass and see how awesome they sound. These are strings that I will buy again and again.
