Two G strings,

Luscious resonating sound. Takes less than a weak for the strings to settle in.Also, there are two G strings - one a new off-color composite that has in my opinion a better sound and the clear nylon that is traditionally supplied. The G string typically has the dullest and most lackluster sound in any nylon set. Thus the new composite G string improves on that as much as it can. Good value at a good price.

I usually use Augustine classical guitar strings because I prefer low sounds, I use Pro Arte for bright sounds. These strings hold their tune for a long time and are easy to handle. You can slide beautifully from one note or chord to another. Grip is good and bending a note is easy on my fingers. These strings sound so good, when you strum your first chord it will amaze you. They cost $11 at Sam Ash.If you never tried Pro Arte try this set first (Normal Tension EJ45C). The one with the yellow cover and red/black font.

I am using these strings for flamenco and find them to be bright and clear sounding. I did not care for the pro arte ej45's as they sounded good, but they didn't have the sparkle that these strings have. I also like the Galli (brand) Genius Titanio gr45 strings that you can find on other websites. The Galli's have more body and fullness to the sound, it's a matter of taste.

The strings take time to firm up but hold tuning well. The new third string has a nice sound that I need to get used to. There seem to be more treble highs and clearer projection. I am pleased so far.

Now that I have had a few different strings to compare to, I am going to weigh in on the Pro Arte composite strings.First, the good: I really like the way these sound on the low E, A, and D strings. Good tone, good volume, and minimal slipping even shortly after changing the strings. I don't get much string noise when I slide my fingers during glissando. Definitely some of the nicest E, A, and D strings that I've had opportunity to play. I tuned up an extra half step for a few hours and the strings stabilized very quickly (within 4 hours), especially the lower strings. The not so good: I am underwhelmed by the volume and tone of the upper B and E strings. The projection feels weaker than other strings I have used and the tone is very distinct from the lower strings. They aren't bad strings at all, but I prefer other brands, specifically Augustine Gold Label. The interesting: The composite G string is pretty good. With nice tone and decent volume the G string blends in very nicely with the lower three strings. The drawback is that it doesn't blend in as neatly with the high E and B strings. All in all, these strings do sound pretty good, but every guitar is different. Unfortunately for D'Addario I have found other strings that I think work better for my guitar (Augustines). If you're unsure of what strings to buy, I suggest trying several brands to compare against. I would definitely recommend that you at least give these a shot.

More than adequate, but what's with crazy price increases?,

Bought a set from Amazon exactly two months ago (Dec 20) for eight-fifty. Now it's near eleven: a thirty percent increase; the mind boggles. These are OK strings. In case you don't know, this set has two G strings, one regular and one composite, so you can pick the one you like better. I prefer the composite third, it's creamier, softer, more even going from high strings to low. The regular third is a kind of "suddenly dull" after the H string on your way down.I don't usually buy strings on Amazon, but this time I needed a little makeweight to get free shipping, and I needed strings anyway, so... While d'Addarios are always an adequate choice (can be safely bought w/o trying), I recommend trial assortments offered by strings by mail -- you can get all kinds of strings (combinations) that way at a moderate cost and mix and match and truly determine what you like. Matter of fact you can get separate strings there -- great stuff, I love them for that. My preference currently is Aquila Alabastro (Nylgut product, imitation gut strings, very warm tone). But again, you can't go wrong with these d'Addarios here: if you must buy only one kind and aren't sure what to go for, d'Addarios are a good, safe choice, you won't be disappointed. They settled quickly too (a couple of days, +/- ... real stable after a week). That said, never blindly click on the "buy" button: always search the web for the best value -- it's not always here. It _was_ in my case, but things change daily, sometimes hourly; verbum sat.

Nice crisp and clean sounding strings, as the other reviewers already stated.Just beware that if you order these strings from Amazon it might take a while for them to arrive. I placed my order on a Monday. The strings where shipped with USPS Friday and finally arrived on Wednesday (9 days). Pretty poor Amazon performance I would say. And sorry to post this here - but unfortunately there is no Amazon seller rating available. Five stars for the strings though.

I'm not super-picky about the strings, so I can only rate them in subjective terms. I like the set; it sounds nice, classic. Not too experimental, not too gut-like, not to steel-like: probably exactly what I was shooting for.

The composite sounds good. It makes the D - G transition in tone more smooth sounding. I will continue to buy these strings in the future.

No problems at all in this purchase of strings for guitar, since I have many guitars and the weather here in Venezuela is very humid, I have to change constantly the strings, and I need a regular supply of them.
