These D'Addario piccolo bass strings are fine strings. They sound good and last a long time. I've actually never broken one before deciding to change strings and they hold their tone for the duration. Extremely reasonably priced and easy to find. Typical D'Addario quality. It's not boutique or really high end but they do the job well.

I bought this on a whim, because I was trying to find some way to emulated some Victor Wooten runs
Honestly, I have never been more happy with a set of strings in my life. If your into doing melodic licks, then these are so worth a go. I just set them up on an old bass I had laying around--just shim the but and adjust the bridge, word of caution though the G string can be a bit bright, so either use a limiter or raise the bridge high to clear some of the pick-up field.
