Recently I have replaced my 4/4 violin strings with these news ones. They produce an excellent quality of sound with minimum bow moment. I am happy that I got these strings after a prolonged research to get good strings. I highly recommend these strings to medium to professional violonists.Another good aspect of these strings is that you don't need any setting time. Hope this helps to aspirants.

Good strings for folk music,

I mainly play folk music and fiddle tunes, and I prefer the mellow sound of these strings for folk songs and folk fiddle styles of New England, Canada, and the British Isles. To my ear, Cajun music also sounds fine on them. They hold their tune well and I find them responsive and easy to play on.
Sound is a matter of personal taste, of course, and if you are looking for a brighter string for blue grass or southern styles, try steel.

I am a freelance classical violinist and these are the strings I always go back to. It depends on the instrument-- but I find these much warmer and fuller than Dominants. And it is not that much fun to start monkeying around with the gut core because they are so expensive.

Had a hard time finding the right strings for my fender electric violin, heard I should check these out from another website, put strings on and the sound was great with excellent tones and fullness but also kept pitch when I pulled the bow hard against strings. Recommend for anyone w/electrics.

These Are Just OK,

I play professionally and was desperate for strings. The shop only had Helicores so I tried them. The gauge of the strings is inconsistent for starters. The E is very weak and I recommend buying a separate E if you're going to buy these. They last about 6 weeks if you play a lot. They also don't play well or sound good when playing in humid conditions, even if you change rosins. All in all - I would say spend the money and get something of higher quality. These are ok for beginners but that's about it.

Best strings I've used so far,

I've been playing violin for less than a year, and I've gone through SEVERAL different brands of strings (violin problems) and these seem to have outlasted the others. Great buy.

Great for Crosstuning,

I have two fiddles-one for bluegrass and one for old time. The bluegrass fiddle is strung with Dominants, and the old time fiddle with Helicores. I put Helicores on the old time fiddle so I could cross tune it without having to worry about breaking strings. They sound so good I'm considering replacing the Dominants on my other fiddle as well. Good strings. Stable, retune easily and hold a tuning quickly.

I purchased a set of these strings. I was trying to tune the violin for the second time when the D-string came unwound from the top. I sent an e-mail to the company, but heard nothing, so I called. I spoke with someone at the shop. I explained my plight and he put me on hold for a few minutes. He came back on the phone and said that he couldn't find another D-string lying around anywhere, so he explained that he would merely refund me $6.72 or a similar sum. Now, I have a violin with three strings, a new bridge and a new bow, but no D-string.

We go through a lot of strings so we're always looking for a quality set that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. These fit the bill. I'll definitely purchase them again.

Purchased for my daughter's violin. Wish we had replaced her strings sooner. These have a beautiful rich tone that doesn't go out of tune easily. The price is excellent online. Much, much cheaper than a music store. We were able to have these strings put on at our local music store for a few dollars. Definitely worth it!
