Nothing fancy about this review. I like this a little better than other set because the middle string is .014, which is good for a DAD setup. I thought about getting individual string gauges, but it seems to come out cheaper buying several packs of these.

Not ball end strings,

If your dulcimer uses a ball end string, then the D'Addario J64 is not want you want. A description telling whether strings are, or are not ball end should be added.

These are good quality dulcimer strings that come at a bargain price ...,
This review is from: D'Addario J64 4-String Dulcimer Strings (Electronics)
If you buy a dulcimer, the next thing you'll want to do is purchase a few sets of strings. If you go into your local music store chances are they will not carry these strings, unless of course it is a huge, all purpose store. These strings are not expensive, so stocking up on them won't break the bank. When you get this package of D'Addario Dulcimer strings you'll find three small packages inside. Intermediate and advanced players can simply bypass this review as chances are you're already familiar with a lot I have to say. What you will receive: J6401/2-.012 1st & 2nd - Plain Steel (two strings in one package) Tension at Pitch Note: D Lbs: 20.5 Kg: 9.30 J6403-.014 A-3rd - Plain Steel Tension at Pitch Note: A Lbs: 16.2 Kg: 7.35 J6404-.022 D-4th - Nickel Wound Tension at Pitch Note: D Lbs: 15.1 Kg: 6.85 The first few times you change the strings or replace one, it's definitely a chore, but later on it seems like you can do it in your sleep. A couple times I've found strings that were over or under wound, but I simply did a bit of twisting myself. These are good quality strings and are a bargain at this price ... I've bought them off a music site and the cost is decent and not at all overpriced.
