I chose D'Addario strings for my cello for 2 reasons: 1) I've knew the brand name and have always been satisfied with D'Addario guitar strings; 2) less expensive than similar cello string sets.Bottom line: unless you're looking to spend 150+ on gut strings, this is the way to go.

The D string rings a little Dead but the C really reings out. I use them on a fretted bass mandolin cello and use a pick so I am not rating this for a bowed instrument.
