Just okay strings..., February 7, 2012

I have to confess I'm not a big fan of these strings, even though I use lots of D'Addario products, both for my violins and guitars. These strings just don't have much 'ooomph' to them, but I suppose that might be a big plus on a student instrument, as they won't amplify mistakes too much. On my viola they sound a bit muted and soft and didn't provide the clear, focused sound I was looking for. If you're a student and you don't want to hear all your mistakes, or the sounds caused by bad bowing technique, you might like these. If you're more advanced and want clear, focused sounds, I'd look elsewhere.
