I must say that I'm always skeptical about digital camera and camcorder batteries that are 3rd party brands and so much lower priced than brand names. Many have not provided the longevity or advertised power making the saying "you get what you pay for" all too accurate. In this case I can say this camera battery is a steal at this price and has performed perfectly since December 2008 when I bought my HV30 to use it on. It charges quickly and holds a charge for months when not in use. And even when I have been on outings where the camera was on and/or recording for hours at a time I've yet to deplete this battery in a shooting session. I'd highly recommend this battery for anyone needed a super high capacity for shooting lengthy weddings, family reunions or on vacations where you don't have the time or ability to recharge smaller capacity batteries. I've got two of these and can go several days without the need to recharge.

I would like to suggest that you buy a separate charger for your HV30/40 batteries as the only way to charge with the Canon gear is to connect the charger brick directly to the camera and charge the battery on the camera. I bought a COMBO charger that has a 110 AC wall plug built in and includes a 12VDC cigarette lighter plug power cable for charging while on the road or in a boat from the 12 volt system. You'll never run out of power with that unit because its two way.

These batteries are so affordable you can get two or three for the price of a single high capacity Canon battery and so far they perform just as well after nine months of use.

I bought 2 and one doesn't work. Honestly, for the price, buying this was a lark. I didn't expect either of them to work. Its so cheap that it wasn't even worth returning the dead one. The good news? It hasn't exploded yet 1 month in. Since 1 of them actually worked, I've been pretty nervous about that but I can report that it hasn't happened.

My suggestion? By 2 if you buy this, that way you will have 1 working one and if both work, you got a bonus.

purchased two of these and only one worked. purchased another, it works. not sure what to do with the defective one.
