At first I was using a Study Guide given from the IBM website and was caught off guard with topics I haven't seen before when I took the online test exam. After seeing and purchasing this book... WOW! It had it all. I would not have passed the 730 exam without it. Buy it now if you need to pass the fundamentals exam.

This book I found as good book for certification (exam 000-730) on analogue book DB 2 v8.1 (700). The book is easy for understanding (inc. Beginners).

I appeared today for my exam and felt like i was hit by storm after carefully reading this book thrice. I certainly agree its a very good resource for understanding concept, but not completely informative to clear the exam. I would rather want to say that the questions i appeared for were not the the typical ones, rather had some tough tone to it. Whichever way, my advise would be carry few other valuable resources and try practicing as much as possible before your actual test.

The technical depth and to the point discussion makes this book the BEST among the DB2 9 books available in the market. You get most bang out of buck. It not only the best book for DB2 certification exam but also extremly useful for day-to-day DBA tasks.

Roger Sanders is one of the best writers out there and certainly the most published on the topic of DB2. That probably explains the appropriateness and "readability" of this foundational work on DB2 fundamental concepts with a DB2 9 focus. Even for those DB2 DBAs who have been around for a few years, there is new information that will be valuable not just when sitting for the test, but also when approaching day-to-day DBA tasks. As always, Roger's writing style flows seamlessly from one topic to the next, allowing the reader to focus on the content without the style "hiccups" that make too many technical works difficult to read.

This was the main resource I used to pass the certification. For a technical book it remains quite readable. Because the author was also involved in writing the exam, if you study diligently then you will not be caught with your pants down when taking the actual test. It's worth every penny.

This Book was easy to read and very informative - I learned a lot by reading the whole book cover to cover several times and taking the tests, which were a Great Resouce to me. Thank you Roger Sanders!

Although this book helped me a lot to pass IBM exam 730, I must note that:

(a) There is a small number of unpleasant errors in the book, including at least
two incorrect answers to sample test questions and several mistakes in sample
test questions themselves.

(b) When taking the exam, I saw at least three questions which were completely
out of scope of that book.

So use with care.

This book follows the authors history of writing solid books about db2. This book gets you about 80% of the way - the other 20% is hands on work and personal determination.
