This was one the first payware addons i bought for both FS9 & FSX and that was last year (along with Airbus Collection also from Commercial Level Simulations "CLS"). And i must say my introduction to addon aircraft for the Microsoft Flight Simulator series couldn't have been better. Ever since i've been hooked to flying the DC-10 and i've grown to love the legendary aircraft. The Virtual cockpit is very good, it has many switches and view aspect changes. There is also the engineer stations (or panel) which includes subpanels to electrical, fuel, hydraulics, engines, apu, etc. The overhead panel is very decent as well and every button present in the panel is clickable from the Virtual cockpit too. The control and radio panel which handles flaps, radio, trim and stabilizer, spoiler is very detailed too. the FMC is part of the F-lite concept by CLS (Commercial Level Simulations) which simplifies the navigation plotting procedures and other issues by implementing a user friendly computer for the FMC for the aircraft such as automatically aligning IRS, plotting routes, calculating Takeoff, enviroment data, and approach settings. Thanks to further upgrade support from the developers an optional INS can be used to fly like the old days instead of the FMC. Flying this aircraft is a real pleasure. The addon includes many liveries and this is a plus. External views and sounds are very good. Variants of the DC-10 are the DC-10-10, DC-10-10F, DC-10-15,DC-10-30, DC-10-30F, DC-10-40, KC-10. I've bought some other payware addon aircraft for Flight Simulator but i always go back to the DC-10 collection, this is my favorite addon aircraft for FS.

Great expansion pack for flight sim 2004. great graphics, I flew the real DC-10 for a year. The sound and flight characteristics are very close to the real thing. Much better than the 747-400 that comes with FS 2004.

After using this plane for a few weeks, I have to say I'm impressed.

The product has great visuals and detail, and every livery I tested had crisp, high resolution textures. The sounds of this plane are absolutely spectactular, as they model the realistic buzz of the turbofans. Comparing the freighter model to a real FedEx DC10-10F, 95% of the details found on the real aircraft can be found in this model.

However, this addon has a few flaws.
The landing gear and flaps extend/retract with a stuttered motion, unlike the fluid movement found on default planes. Secondly the plane does NOT work with DirectX 10 which is kind of a letback to me, as I usually like to run FSX in DX10. Lastly, as with any CLS product, the plane will not work with multiplayer which may or may not decide wether you would purchase the DC10.
