Looks pleasant in a bronze finish. holds a 9 foot umbrella with an aluminium pole really well. my umbrella tilts and so far no instability problems even with the tilt in place.

We bought a very expensive commercial off-set umbrella for our large pool-deck a few years ago - it came with retractable roller-wheels and all - but what we ended up with was a behemoth that is still extremely difficult to move (and you DO need to MOVE off-set umbrellas), HUGE (not in a good way), and UGLY. The trade-off for umbrella bases seemed to be insurmountable: you need weight and a large base for sturdiness and stability but you also want it to be attractive and have a certain degree of nimbleness or maneuverabilty to make the base USEFUL. But everything I looked at was either too light and/or flimsy, too huge and/or ugly or too ($150+) expensive for something so simple. But when I found and bought this base, we finally ended up with a heavy-duty, solidly and simply constructed, attractive and un-obtrusive yet still MOVEABLE umbrella base at a GREAT price - and it took less than 5 minutes to put together - and I'm NOT very handy. The stand is 44 lbs HEAVY (what you need) but not bulky or awkward, and the resin coating on it makes it slideable - with a little muscle - when you want to move it. I'm not going to say it's EASY to slide - it IS 44 lbs so a child or senior citizen might have some difficulty - but again, with a little muscle (I'm a 5'6" woman with medium build and no real muscles or weight routine to brag about), it's NOT hard to slide - taking the umbrella out first makes it a little easier. The resin coating also makes it weatherproof and adds to it's attractiveness. The only real negative was when it was delivered, the cardboard packaging was in rough shape - torn and open in several places - so that made me a little nervous but, in the end, nothing was damaged and we couldn't be happier. We plan to buy two more.

We bought this to replace a smaller, lighter base. Our umbrella, which is not all that big, would cause the old base to fall over when we tilted it. This base is heavy and does not fall over at all. It's very solid. I recommend it 100%.

Base has the potential to be a great value, if it arrives damage free. Packaging is simply not adequate to ship such a heavy item. The tube portion of the stand that holds the umbrella was dented to the point that I could not insert the umbrella. After some work on on the tube with a vise and a rubber mallet, I was able to make the stand serviceable. I also had to paint the tube to cover an area where it had rubbed against the base right in shipping right down to the bare metal. I like the base, but I should not have has to spend the time I did making it right.

The base is extremely heavy and I'm sure it will withstand any high winds. However, the steel tubing that sits in the base to hold the umbrella was very damaged, and I was missing 2 parts. I called the shipper who was extremely helpful and sent the damaged part and missing pieces without a problem. Customer service was excellent. Love it now. Very easy to assemble.

It's very hefty and good looking. We bought two and we use one with a table and one free-standing on our deck. So far they've been great!

Very functional cast base, which can withstand heavy wind and keeps umbrella firmly in place. However, product packaging is very poor(inexpensive materials), and as result, the pipe in which you insert the umbrella, was crushed inside the shipping box. The 48 pound base is shipped laying against this tube, and it easily becomes damaged. I found this to be a frequent complaint of other buyers of this product as well. A more suitable shipping carton that separated these two parts, would remedy this issue. A 48 pound item is a pain to ship back, so I repaired the tube as best I could, and re-painted the tube. Not what you would expect in a $48, simple cast stone base. Would not recommend purchasing this item.

Needed a large, heavy base for the stand alone patio umbrella that I bought my son. This base was an excellent choice.

I'm sure this umbrella base will stand the test of time, however, I'm very dissappointed with a complete lack of quality control. The tube which attaches to the base was significantly dented (caved in) on one side. This would NOT have been due to shipping! Too much of a hassle to send back, so, I did some metal work (pounded the tube myself to get the dented side to pop out a bit.) This isn't a significant issue, as the umbrella now fits in fine ... but wouldn't have if I did not fix it myself. I will probably have to paint the tube with rustoleum as the paint flakes off. I'm giving this 3 stars because it suits my needs and I fixed it myself.
