We were gifted with this book in Dec 2008 after the arrival of our first baby. Thank you thank you Ms. Masterson! I strongly recommend DC Baby (DC Baby, Revised Second Edition) as a shower gift for anyone you know expecting in the Washington, DC area. They will find this book far more useful than a cute outfit (especially an outfit sized 0-3 mo).

After spending hours fruitlessly mining the web and searching through listserv archives for local information prior to our little one's arrival, I was thrilled to find what lay beneath the DC Baby cover. The book is thoughtfully organized, well written and extremely thorough. So thorough that as a busy new mother, I have found myself wondering how the author, a mom herself, found the time to aggregate so much detail on so many baby related things.

Further, it is not just a book of lists but also contains reviews of different programs, schools, stores, etc. This book has helped me - with ease, find so many things e.g. a bilingual Montessori school program, great consignment stores, etc. that I had not located online.

I am sorry that the author appears to be leaving the area and returning to Austin, TX, but I am hopeful she will write a similar book for the Austin metro area as my husband and I are likely to end up there w/in the next few years. We will be first in line to buy such a book.

I got the original book as a gift when I had my first son and it made my life so much easier. This second version was even better. It has up-to-date info that I don't have to research myself. Saves a lot of time now that I have a second son. I cannot recommend this book enough - it pays for itself many times over. I've bought several copies now as baby shower gifts. You cannot go wrong with this gift.

I received this book earlier this year at a shower for my 2nd child. I wish I'd received it earlier 3 years ago for my first child; however, there is still plenty of information for activities and resources for preschoolers on up as well as babies. I will be my new shower gift for every mom in this area from now on. I also plan to use the suggested activities/places when visitors come to DC.

This book has been amazing. I actually bought both editions and also bought multiple copies for all my friends that were expecting. I found the book helpful for so many things and all my friends have raved about all the fun items that I "found" in the book. I think if you live in the DC area, this is a must have book. Thanks so much to Sarah Masterson for writing this book.

We moved to the area two years ago and were given this as a gift. What a wonderful resource! It provides great relevant information and reviews of family friendly activities and places. I have gone back to the book when we have been in need of activities and ideas. It's a must have book for DC area families! I wish every city had a great resource like this one!

I recently bought my first copy - my son is five years old and its STILL relevant! I carry my copy in my car so I always have it handy, even when I'm on the go. Its been "go-to" resource for finding fun things to do. It would be perfect for a new mom or anyone who's just moved to the area.
