A Great Collector Figure for a Great Price,

This review is from: DC Comics Watchmen Movie: Rorschach 1:6 Scale Deluxe Collector Figure (Toy)
I was really excited for this figure since it was announced. To have a larger scale, as well as fully pose able Rorschach figure was a dream come true! One of the first things I noticed after opening up the front panel of the box - which is pretty nice actually - was that the figure's overall look was taken from the comic, even though this is a licensed movie figure. Specifically, the rorschach design on his "face" is taken directly from one of the most climactic scenes in the last issue of Watchmen. Also, the material his coat is made from is clearly different and also lighter in color from what is displayed on the cover of the box. Inside the box Rorschach is hat-less so he looks kinda funny, and that made me second guess the quality of the figure (I don't know why) but once i got him out of the box and put his hat on, I could tell this figure definitely embodied Rorschach. They added in a nice little detail by detaching the left shoulder strap on the overcoat, true to the actual costume design. The "face" mask comes off but its a bit of a pain to fit his it back on since you have to to re-tie his scarf every time, luckily hes so ugly under there it's better just to leave the mask on. However, he does have his full purple suit underneath the overcoat taken straight from the scene in the book when he ambushes "MOLOCH THE MYSTIC!" Rorschach comes with a few neat accessories including his infamous grapple gun, modeled from the movie sculpt and featuring a (barely) removable grapple hook, a miniature 14oz can of 'Veidt hair spray for men' and a tiny tiny zippo lighter (you can guess what those were used for). There are a couple of interchangeable hand sets as well to switch out for different poses or to hold said accessories. Also included is a black display stand, which is very sturdy and boasts Rorschach's signature mark, which is also black so its kinda hard to see, but very cool nonetheless. My only real wishes for this figure were that they had included a couple different mask variants in the box to change it up on occasion or maybe a "The End is Nigh" sign. Whoops... spoilers???? I'll probably make one of those eventually from chopsticks and a piece of cardboard. =D I'm obviously really into this character and the Watchmen overall, so that forced me to buy it, but i was very satisfied with my purchase. Overall I'm giving this figure 5 stars, because it's great quality for a great price in my opinion. If you are a fan of Rorschach (which you BETTER BE) and have a few extra bucks, definitely pick this guy up.

Alright so I ordered this from go-hastings for about $25 which is why I bought it considering how high the normal retail price is. Go Hastings shipped it fast and it came in ok condition.(The box at the top was a bit ripped, but no damage to the figure.) So now to the review of the figure:Pros: The figure is extremely detailed, with three layers of clothing, his coat, then his suit and neck tie thing, and then a white shirt. When you first look at Rorschach in the box he looks a bit odd, but don't worry he will look fine when you put on his hat. He is much more flexible than the smaller Rorschach figure and stands up much more stable. He comes with three sets of hands, a grappling gun, a spray can of Veidt hairspray for men, and a miniscule lighter, and a certificate of authenticity though it is not numbered. There is no The End is Nigh sign so don't hope for that.It takes a little manuvouring to get the gun and spray in each hand but I got it after a while.(Note: I recommend putting the accesories in his hands before you switch them the hands he comes wearing.) For some reason my Veidt hair spray cans label was upside down...I don't know if that was intentional or not. The grappling gun's hooks can be pushed out just a bit. As for the lighter, don't even bother trying to get it in Rorschach's hand. I tried this and after awhile decided to put it in the belt of his coat instead. If you don't want to do that, put it and the extra hands away somewhere safe where you won't lose them. The stand for Rorschach is nice, it can move up and down by pushing a button so you can set him at any height you want. Under his mask is his facial sculpt but for some reason I liked it better on the smaller figure so I kept his mask on. Alright that's my description of the pros, now for the small amount of cons. Cons: The figure is very hard to get out of the box even after you untie him. I was very worried I was gonna break him when I was forcing him out of the plastic encasing. The stand I had a lot of trouble getting out, and it isn't very strong so I recommend being very careful when taking it out. His lighter is far too small, and rather pointless as he can not hold it and in his belt it looks like a gun. With all of Rorschach's clothing he is very bulky at the top of his coat rather then the skinny portrayal of him you'd expect, but its minor. That's about it for the cons. Sorry if this was a bit too detailed. Overall at 25 bucks this figure is more than worth buying for any Watchmen fan/collector whether you like Rorschach or not. Hope you liked my review and if I can I will try to get a picture up of my Rorschach displayed.

This review is from: DC Comics Watchmen Movie: Rorschach 1:6 Scale Deluxe Collector Figure (Toy)
The best character from the comic is now one of the best figures on my shelf. For starters some background info, Rorschach is a one-sixth scale figure from DC Direct. These are the good people who have brought you some wicked Batman figures and so on but a couple of minor complaints here. 1: they do NOT credit their sculptors on the box. 2: Price is very high compared to some 1/6 or 12 inch figure series. Okay, now that that's done, you get what you pay for. Upon removal of the mask I discovered a face sculpt on Walter that was dead-on to the comic, not so much the movie, but if you're a fan then you should read the source material. If you untie the belt from his trenchcoat it's semi-difficult to get it retied just right. The scarf and the mask come off easy so no problems there, now the best part. Under the trench you'll find his full purple-pinstripe suit. It snaps off and under that you'll find his white-collared shirt! The boots are soft rubber which looks and feels convincingly like leather and rather than just molding them on as feet, they molded them on as actual shoes. That's right! Inside he still has little feet! The amount of detail is astounding here, right down to shoulder pivot articulation, and small slits for the shoulder straps of his trench (for the buttons). The layers do make him look kinda superhero buff instead of slim and fit, but that's a minor complaint. Also I should mention that the base offers an adjustable height (I wish I could get more of these) All and all I count at least 23 points of articulation! Including (and I suggest you strip him to see this) midsection, waist and hip. All bloody 3! That is craftsmanship! So to wrap up High price but worth it, extreme detail, beautiful facial sculpt, 3 layers of clothing, great accessories including multiple hand sculpts, based on the comic not the film, wonderful articulation. Totally worth every cent, go buy it. Walter is now happily on my shelf having a sword fight with Duncan and Alex DeLarge. It's just about the coolest thing I've ever seen.
