This review is from: DC Universe Classics Series 9 Action Figure Green Arrow (Build Chemo Piece!) (Toy)
Oliver Queen, Green Arrow, is DC comics' preeminent archer hero. And in the way of comics he's so good with the bow and arrow that he's hero level (because in comics if you're really good at something AND decide to be a hero you're in!) rubbing elbows with the JLA. He sometimes uses "specialty arrows" in his work.
For Kids: He's fairly well known in comics and cartoons (and Smallville now that I think about it), durable and well articulated and comes with some pretty cool accessories. And even if the kid doesn't know Green Arrow maybe they know Robin Hood (?)... very similar look and all. For Adults: They've done a nice job with the hat with feather and on his face with the unique beard and mustache look. He doesn't have much of an expression on his face so it's kind of neutral. He has a large quiver of arrows - with the sculpted backs of the arrows sticking out sculpted as part of the quiver. He's got his arms straps/pads, his vest and its straps are sculpted and he's got a belt with a little "G" on it (you know in case you didn't know he's the GREEN arrow). His hands are made to hold accessories. Skin tone is fine as is his blonde head and facial hair - otherwise there lots of dark and light green with minimal slop. He's got the standard articulation with one plus. His is a pin neck allowing side to side movement, ball/pin shoulders and pin elbows. The plus is that the wrists are ball/pin style instead of just a cut so that he's a touch more flexible. Then he's got the ab crunch, cut waist, forward, back and out hips, cut thighs, pin knees and pin ankles. As usual this is all very good. He is the "stand figure" for the Chemo series so does not have a piece of Chemo, just a little blue stand. The DCUC figures usually throw a stand figure in the mix which is usually either a popular character or a high demand character from a previous wave. He comes with some other goodies with ups and downs. The ups are five accessories, his bow and arrow with an arrow strung (not like the product picture), a boxing glove arrow (the classic), a bolo arrow, a stun arrow and a bomb arrow. The individual arrows are really well done with lots of little detail and a great bonus. The downs? One, there is no place to keep his arrows, he can hold one in his right hand but the other three just have to hang out. It would have been nice to have the option to put them in the quiver or even strap them to the outside of it. Second the string on the bow is very thick and attached to an arrow which in turn is attached to the bow itself - meaning that unless you cut the arrow loose from the bow you can't pose him as if actually pulling the string back to shoot - which seems like something you'd want a character who's only ability is to shoot stuff to do. This makes it hard to get really good poses out of him with the bow even with the added wrist flexibility. I suspect your ability to judge this particular figure will have much to do with how much you like Green Arrow. Someone who's a fan will likely feel 4 stars or more, someone who's not will score lower. I'm not a huge fan and am constantly disappointed I can't pose him as well as I like with the bow (haven't got up the nerve to actually cut that arrow loose) and wish his arrows had somewhere to go. But I also acknowledge the quality of the figure and arrows so I'm going average with 3 stars.

Mattel did a great job with this figure, the sculpt is great and is very reminiscent of the Super Powers line. As with some of the Wave 9 figures that I have the joints are a little loose. Mattel needs to hurry and get more cases of Wave 9 available, the second market price are a little ridiculous but for this figure I thought it was worth it.

Green Arrow has a great sculpt, good proportion, and excellent articulation. The neck is too easy to damage as my daughter snapped his head off :), causing me to re-purchase this figure. She wasn't even trying too hard to move his head, just a simple accident. Perhaps the first figure purchased was defective, but just in case you like to put your figures on a shelf. Careful with the neck. Good figure though.
