Editorial Reviews

Review

"It's mechs. It's zombies. It's zombies in mechs. You already know you're going to buy it, so just get it over with." --New York Times Bestselling Author Scott Sigler, author of Ancestor, Infected, Contagious

"Take one part Zombies, combine with one part Mech Warrior, add a heaping tablespoon of Undead Ass Kicking Action and what do you get? Dead Mech: The World's First Drabble Novel" --Tony Faville, author of Kings of the Dead

"I'd say how Jake Bible has created a unique setting, or how interesting and well written the book is. But all I really need to tell you: GIANT ROBOTS piloted by ZOMBIES."
--Robert R. Best, Author of Lakewood Memorial and Ashton Memorial

"Thrilling post-post-apocalyptic action, brilliantly inventive both in concept and execution." --David Dunwoody, author of EMPIRE and EMPIRE'S END

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! February 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Every once in a while a new author comes along that just blows me out of the water, and Jake Bible is one of those authors. When I first heard what a "drabble" was, I was extremely skeptical that it could be used to write an entire novel, but Bible hits it out of the park in a story that is packed with gore, action, excellent characters, and zombies! Dead Mech has got to be one of my favorite reads this year so far, and I will definitely be checking out more stuff from Jake in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new twist on an old genre... February 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Jake has taken the zombie genre, and given it a twist that brings new "life" to it. I found the character development very interesting and compelling... making the reader (or listener) really care about them, and the situations they caught up in.

I agree with previous reviewer, in that this is a great addition to my eBook collection (Kindle!)

Looking forward to seeing more of Jake's amazing stories!

5.0 out of 5 stars A rock 'em sock 'em zombie/sci-fi book.. February 8, 2012
By Tracy
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dead Mech was great fun! A hellaciously imaginative and original take on a zombie/sci fi novel that starts off full blast and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the finish. This post-apocalyptic world of horrifyingly evolved zombies and Dead Mech's battling what little is left of the human race makes for exciting action scenes.

Author Jake Bible's writing style, the Drabble Novel, works for a full-length book. His prose is deliciously spare and concise; pass the meat and hold the potatoes.

Read this book; you will love it.

Then read book two: The Americans

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombietastic February 16, 2011
By MPM1810
Format:Kindle Edition
Admittedly, I was a little unsure about the zombie mech thing but Mr. Bible totally pulled it off. This book is an awesome version of the apocalypse creatively combining mech's with zombies while still carrying on a fascinating storyline with many interesting characters and twists. It is sexy, gory and action packed I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Aural and Literary Assault February 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dead Mech as a podcast was an aural assault that had the potential to leave listeners exhausted from the fast pace necessary for a drabble novel. The print edition is no less assaulting. Jake Bible somehow found a way to bring a short form of writing into a novel and carry over the spirit of drabble in one long, continuous story that does not betray the drabble format. There is nothing more frightening than a Deader, read or listen and you'll learn this truth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starts strong, ends meh May 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dead Mech starts out strong, a great blend of sci-fi post-disaster with the zombie genre. The beginning is fantastic, a promising look into a post-apocalyptic Earth. Mr. Bible introduces great characters who actually seem to grow a bit during the middle of the story. There are definitely a few editing issues, as many others have noted. The end is where it all breaks down. Too many newly introduced characters, who have no room to grow and remain one-dimensional backdrops, and this story comes as close as one can to being based on Star Wars without actually saying "I've got a bad feeling about this."

The zombie genre has adapted itself again by the combination with 20ft tall Mechs.
