I have owned Kenmore Irons, and a top line Rowenta that was recently dropped - replaced by this B&D model. It holds more water than others, there is no gimicky controls - very basic - press the button for the right textile setting and go. The sole plate is smooth - steam is powerful. I iron all my jeans - most come out of the dryer with hard creases - this iron presses them all out. Delicate items - poly and blends - no melting! My old Rowenta melted everthing it touched - and then the $15 cleaning kit was a hassel with Rowenta - not to mention all the spitting from the steam holes. Black and Decker has made a fantastic iron that well worth the money! Don't hesitate - just buy it.

This iron does a really good job of ironing but it has a major design flaw. The cover over the water well breaks really easily. I had read reviews before I bought it where people stated they had the same issue. Like a dummy I figured they were just rough with it and was sure it wouldn't happen to mine. I was wrong. The third time I used it, although I was very careful, the piece that holds the cover shut broke off. I have to fill it and tape the cover down with masking tape. It's a real pain. And water still leaks out of the water well all over my clothes. You would think a company like Black & Decker could come up with something better than this. I'd be willing to pay more to have a better cover. 5 stars for ironing power and ease. 2 for design.

This will be a short and sweet review. As a guy I hate ironing, but find it necessary to keep the work shirts and pants looking good. This iron heats up very quickly, glides easily and has an incredible shot of steam that would please Tim Allen, "Argh, argh, argh". My sisters $120+ Rowenta has nothing on this baby.

I purchased the Hamilton Beach Durathon full size iron (Model No.19800) for $25.00 Durathon Full Size Iron and the Black&Decker (Model No.D2030) for $43.00 at the same time, so i can decide which of them i will keep.
I decided to keep the Hamilton Beach Durathon 19800 it's EXTREMELY EASY to iron everything and throws more steam than compared to the more expensive Black&Decker D2030.
Also, i noticed after ironing a shirt, the B&D D2030 had scratches on its plate already, after one single use/one single shirt.
Id like to say, in my opinion: i'm not so crazy about digital irons. I'm a 30 year guy who believes that not everything has to be digital, i believe that irons should not be. I have friends and relatives that have had digital irons and once the screen fades, or stop working, the entire product must be replaced, but that is not the reason i kept the Hamilton Beach over the Black & Decker, i simply kept it because to me its better.
The B&D D2030 its too heavy which i believed its a good thing because its suppose to get rid of wrinckles faster and etc. but it turns out, its not.

I loved this iron until it died after owning it for a little over a year. I bought this iron because Consumer Reports rated it #1. It was a great iron while it worked. (I iron about once a week - sometimes twice a month.) I've had irons last for years and I usually get rid of them because they lack the bells and whistles not because they fail to work. Black & Decker Customer Service acted like I was the only one whoever had a problem with one of their products and told me to go buy another iron because it was over a year old. I'm sorry, but I think with light use, an iron should last more than a year. Forget Black & Decker. I'm trying Rowenta or Bosch.

I purchased this iron in October of 2006 primarily because of the high ratings it received from other customers. I received the iron from Amazon and was initially very impressed with the iron and it's product features. However, every time I ironed, the soleplate would build up a dark brown scorched residue that immediately began staining my clothes. I followed the manufacturers instructions and wiped clean with a plain moist cloth, but the next time around...same problem.
I called Black & Deckers "Help" Line and was connected with a Representative who listened to the problem and presumed that my iron must be defective and would gladly exchange it for the exact same model. I followed her instructions including sending in a portion of the plug, a letter addressing the malfunction, and a check for $7.50 to cover S&H. By the way, I was very polite and understanding throughout, these things happen.
About 3 weeks later, I received a "new" iron on my doorstep. No outer packaging, just the iron with a shipping label affixed, in a crumpled box. Not my original iron,, by the way. Not only is it not the original iron, but this model has about half the satisfaction ratings the original model had. Many complaints of leaking. To make matters worse, it looks like it has either been used or reconditioned. There is a large chip in the side soleplate, and scuff marks all over the bottom. Naturally, I called B&D and was informed that they are allowed to "substitute" a model if the original one is not available. I quickly responded that this was never conveyed to me in our initial conversation (Honest!!). B&D proceeded to tell me that should I wish to return it again, both the return and re-shipment will be at my expense. What if I want to try it out, but then decide I don't like it?
