Product Description

Style Name: Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel Bottom

Product Description

Makes 7-1/4-inch in diameter round Belgian waffle in four sections. Extra deep grids to hold toppings and/or syrups. Nonstick cooking grids wipe. Vertical Storage Base.

Amazon.com

A thick, fluffy, 7-1/4-inch-diameter Belgian waffle is already divided into four sections and ready to be shared when it comes out of this handsome waffle maker. That's because the grids' dividers are high enough to separate the sections. The grids are nonstick, meaning they readily release the four-piece waffle and easily wipe clean. A ready light shines when the waffle maker is properly heated to accept the batter and shines again when the waffle is cooked. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 650-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the waffle maker upright for compact storage. It measures 8 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches high, and 11-1/2 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

My husband had been hinting at wanting a waffle maker for ages but I had been resisting, knowing it would probably be used 3 times and then shoved into a cabinet just like the ice cream maker he so desperately needed years ago. I happened to see this one at a local store around father's day and impulse bought it, I figured for $20 who cares, and it'll make him happy and he can make waffles with our son, right? I didn't expect it to work really well, but then, I only needed it to work 3 times until he got sick of it so quality wasn't an issue.

When he opened it I was immediately struck by how solid it is. This is NOT what I expected of a $20 product. This is a nice little waffle maker. Is it the fanciest of the fancy? No, it's just a basic waffle maker. Does it work well? Yes. It makes waffles really well, cooks evenly and they slide right out. Is it easy to use? Yes. I kid you not, for the last 3 weeks we have had waffles at least 5 times per week, and for the first few nights (until I complained of getting fat) we had waffles for dessert because they are so easy to make!

If you're debating a waffle maker but don't want to spend a fortune or have some gigantic piece of machinery taking up space in your kitchen, buy this one. As someone who thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever, I'm kinda loving it. I made grilled cheese using it last week (yes, it was waffle textured, but it was tasty and my 5 year old got a kick out of it), I'm shocked by how much I can use this silly little thing for, and, I hate to admit it, but it was $20 well spent and I don't see it getting shoved onto the back of the cup board anytime soon!

Like the other reviewers, I agree that this waffle maker is hard to clean, especially in the front. There is a nickel-width gap where all the spillover can get into. It's very hard to clean that gap out. Also, it DOES overcook the waffles. So, don't follow the timer. Cook for 2.5 minutes and it's perfect. Decent sized waffles. Looks nice with the chrome finish.

I would not recommend this waffle-maker. The lower handle provides a place for batter to ooze into, and it can't be cleaned out! And you can't unscrew the screws to get at the area. The light timer makes dark waffles, not to my kids liking. I'm ready to pull my old waffle maker out of the attic!

We got this as a wedding present a little over a year ago, and we don't use it REALLY often. When we do, it makes really great waffles! But heed the warning of the other reviews, the little plastic hinges are cheap and break very quickly. I don't know if you can get replacement parts or not, but I barely was able to finish my batch of waffles today because it got to the point where I couldn't get the last little piece of hinge to go back in anymore. (Fortunately I was on the last 2 waffles! haha) Probably wouldn't recommend this one.

This waffle maker is great it makes great Belgian waffles. It is very simple and clean simply pour the mixture in to it, close the cover and in a few moments you have great waffles. I've tried many waffle makers that are much more expensive and fancier, however the waffles are the exact same as this one. Don't spend more this waffle maker is good and well priced.

Contrary to what other reviews have said, I have looked in four local stores and have not found this product anywhere.

I Googled, "best waffle maker" and what popped up? A Feb 2012 article by Bon Appetit Magazine. They list this waffle in the top three of all waffle makers. I trust this magazine. They know what they are talking about when they say..."Our favorite option under $30 produced a better waffle than most of the $50-$75 irons tested. It's easy to use, too: Just plug it in, add batter, and wait a few minutes." [...]
We usually use Trader Joe's pancake and waffle mix and they turn out delicious.

Got two waffle makers for Christmas. (the list you know) Really liked this one because it looked nicer and the brand gave it the appearance of being more expensive. We kept the other one, as we like to make a bunch and freeze them, so two would work fine. Well we had a problem with this one right away, and my DH called B&D and they sent us a replacement. The replacement broke, guess where? , at the hinge! So we've been using it for the last 6+ months like it is. Am currently shopping Amazon for a professional one like I saw at Costco.

To begin with, I must agree with another reviewer here in that I too was able to purchase this specific appliance at a local retailer for considerably less than the asking price here. This is odd as more often than not Amazon is able to beat our local prices.

Be that as it may, please consider as you are reading this review the circumstances of how often we use this waffle maker. Also consider the fact that overall, I am not a big fan of many Black & Decker products, in particular their tools.

We purchased this maker some six odd months ago and it is still working and still meets our needs. We make maybe at best, one waffle a week and split that one between us...there are two of us. This is not what I would consider heavy use. I will say that it cooks a nice tasting waffle, there is no sticking and it is extremely easy to clean and storage is no problem. Cleaning the top by whipping it down with a bit of vinegar with a paper towel keeps it nice shinny and bright.

Now don't take me wrong. We have had waffle makers before; some outrageously expensive ones; almost to the point of obscenity. We no longer need such contraptions in our case. I am in no way comparing this little thing to one of those magnificent machines. No, what I am saying is that this thing is working fine for us making one waffle every couple of weeks or so. I would hate to have to rely on this to pop those puppies out for a large family or even a small family who are big into waffles.

Cost wise, service wise and easy usage makes this ideal for our specific needs. How long this thing will last I have no idea. I am a bit leery of the plastic hinges, which truth be told, are already becoming looser than they were when we first bout it.
