5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for keeping on the countertop!
I have had my share of coffee makers over the years and this one is by far my favorite. I love the front filling design. The tray swings out for BOTH water and grounds, so I can easily keep this in one place on the counter top. When placed on the the counter under overhead cabinets (normally a dark spot in my kitchen) this design is stellar. It's easy to see how much...

2.0 out of 5 stars Leaky & weak
I bought two of these; one for myself and one for a family member. Both of them leak, one to the point of being unusable. It seems the tab that hangs down in the back that stops the dripping coffee when the carafe is pulled out, isn't secure so it leaks if the carafe isn't pushed hard up against it.

I also agree with another review that the brewing is very...

It's easy to see how much water you've filled. I program the timer and have coffee waiting when I wake up in the morning. It's a simple, straightforward, efficient design. It doesn't take up more space than it needs to and the coffee is hot and brewed just right. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to a friend. Oh, there is a "warming" tray on the top for your coffee mugs that I always forget to use. The coffee is HOT so I never need the extra boost from a warm mug, but it's a cute idea.

I also agree with another review that the brewing is very weak. I have also had to up the amount of coffee I use to get a decent strength cup of coffee.

Lastly, what's with the Aroma brewing feature?! It takes at least 20 minutes to get a SINGLE cup of coffee with that setting! LOL!

I really like the DeLonghi brand and have used DeLonghi coffeemakers for years, but this is a sad disappointment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great design, bad coffee, March 18, 2008

SPR (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
We purchased the 12-cup front load Delonghi a few months ago. While the front-load design feature is fantastic, we have not been happy with the taste of the coffee. No matter how finely we grind the beans, the coffee always seems to taste weak. In order to get the taste to an appropriate strength we have to increase the ratio of grounds-to-water to around 1.33 scoops to 1 cup of water, which is much more than what was required from our older Krups maker. Alas, we may have to resort to our old machine and trade in convenience for taste. Too bad, because the front-load design is great for storing on the kitchen counter underneath low-hanging cabinets.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Design but Serious Flaws, February 11, 2009
This review is from: DELONGHI DCF212T 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker
I purchased this machine in 10/2008--less than four months ago.

Pros- The design is wonderful.

Cons--It's going in this week's trash because it leaks and has been leaking for the past month. It's reached a point where I'm concerned that the carafe will break. It takes a tremendous amount of coffee to get a decent full-bodied cup and that is on the aroma cycle. It takes forever to make a pot of coffee and even longer if you use the aroma cycle--more than 15 minutes on the aroma cycle.

2.0 out of 5 stars LOVE front acess - NOT HOT COFFEE - SAD :(, December 17, 2008
This review is from: DELONGHI DCF212T 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker
I KNOW....some of you had already listed that the coffee did not "get hot enough"...I did see that before I bought it at Target. I just really LOVED the front access - the way you put the water in, etc. We must keep our maker under a cabinet and we have very little counter space. This did not have any water filtration system - but we went ahead and purchased one for the kitchen faucet. (oh well - guess me needed one) keeping that.
OKAY the cup warmer on top is so neat and does work.....but at only 900watts - NOT HOT ENOUGH coffee...!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought some of you who stated this before on this site - might have been used to STARBUCKS and MCDonalds piping hot coffee and maybe you really did not know what you were talking about.
We are hooked on Coffeemate creamer (liquid) original - so putting in cool creamer from the fridge did not help the matter at all!!!
PLEASE DeLonghi - FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WARM IT UP - I promised I will buy it!!-Until then - it has been returned!!!

So sad in the South... :(

5.0 out of 5 stars Seems like a Great Coffee Maker to Me!, July 22, 2009
By
This review is from: DELONGHI DCF212T 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker
I received this coffee maker as a gift some time ago and it works GREAT!

The LIKES:
1. I don't have ANY leaking problems as others have stated so I was very concerned when I received this coffee maker. I suspect that some of the leaking problems others have reported are due to not completely shutting the water/coffee swinging door or not getting the coffee pot conpletely onto the warmer plate.
2. The coffee gets HOT, hotter that with the old Gevallia and it's quieter too.
3. It brews coffee at 1 cup a minute (which seems to be like any other coffee maker I have ever owned).
4. Very stylish with a cup warmer on the top of the unit.
5. The water & coffee tray combination swing out! The ease of adding water WITHOUT spills and not having to reach so high & pour where you usually can't see to pour! Just pour the water in first THEN add the coffee!
6. NOT having to use the paper filters! I put coffee directly into the gold mesh basket and no grounds come out into the pot! If there are any grounds, they aren't worth mentioning.
7. Easy to clean, all of the filters & baskets come out for cleaning.

The DISLIKES:
1. I would like to see this model in White. (No big deal)
2. Setting the clock/timer requires you to hold the button until the time gets to where it needs to be. No shortcuts here. (Not that big of a deal)
3. A lighted clock would be nice also. (Not that big of a deal)
4. Water filtration would be good too. (Not a show stopper)
5. To set the Timer you have to press the On button TWICE to set the Timer until the Red light turns Green. (Again not a show stopper)

Overall It's a GREAT Coffee Maker!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Leaks after 2-3 months, December 1, 2008
This thing leaks. Our coffee maker is about 3 months old and now the coffee is starting to flow down the back side of the pot and down to the warming plate, it seems like it's flowing out of control coming out of the pause and serve mechanism( the spring loaded piece). I can hear the coffee sizzling as it hits the hot plate under the carafe during and right after brewing. The burned-on coffee causes the carafe to stick. I thought maybe something was clogged but no clog was found. I bought it at Target and by reading all the complaints, they won't take it back with out a receipt. I truly love the design of the front load but I spent $64 and I have to hang a folded up papertowel between the pot and the tab and then I have to replace it with a dry papertowel 2 times more for a full pot.

2.0 out of 5 stars good until it stopped working 2 months later, March 9, 2008

I purchased the De'Longhi 12-Cup Front Loading Programmable Coffee Maker for my parents for Christmas 2007. It worked out well since it was the perfect model for under the cabinet. The only problem was that it stopped working after 2 months and had to be returned to the store where purchased. It was a disappointment that this did not work out since it seems to be the only model out there where everything can be loaded from the front (coffee and water).

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee Maker - Dead after 1 year 2 months, February 26, 2011
This review is from: DELONGHI DCF212T 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker
This coffee maker is actually pretty fantastic at making coffee. Love the aroma feature and how it opens in the front instead of the top. Unfortunately, after 1 year and 2 months, I went to make coffee, and it is dead. Don't know why or what happened. Just stopped working. I would have expected this (or any coffee maker) to last longer than a year. Of course, it has a one year warranty!
