There are certainly other compound miter saws (including one from Delta) that offer a bigger bite, but considering the exceptionally good price on this model, we don't think you'll find another saw that offers as much value for the money. The 36-220 is a little heavier and more challenging to move around a job site than some competing portable saws, but that weight is due to Delta's solid construction, and it gives the saw a level of stability and accuracy we think is worth the extra heft. Delta priced this saw to be affordable for home users, but they built it to withstand the rigors of professional use. We think it's an all-around excellent saw. --Brian Trinen

Great Saw,
By A Customer
This review is from: DELTA 36-220 10-Inch Compound Miter saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had one now for 18 months and built 2 sheds with it. The saw is well built and accurate, but the dust colloection stinks (doesn't collect enough of the sawdust) and my standard blade was a piece of junk steel blade. However it sounds like carbide is now standard. I love the bed extensions, hold down clamp, and repetitive cut guide that come with it - they all work well. Would recommend to anyone except someone needing to carry it around to many worksites - it's a heavy beast because of the cast iron bed. Look at the aluminum models if you want light.

Great Saw - Bad Back,

This review is from: DELTA 36-220 10-Inch Compound Miter saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have had the Delta 36-220 Compound Mitre saw for a little over a year. I 100% agree with Doug B's review. It is a tough, accurate and vibration free saw, equally at home with construction as well as finish work (a lot depends on the blade). The vertical D-handle is a bit awkward for left handed use but the cast iron base does an excellant job of damping vibrations. It is also HEAVY....at over 50lbs, it barely qualifies as portable (unless you can get one with a fork lift). All in all, I would highly recommend it as a stationary shop saw but would look at Makita for a lighter, more portable, mitre saw. Cheers, John

Excellent value for stationary use, not very portable,

This saw is a great value. It cuts smooth (especially with a new carbide blade) and cuts anything. Miter works well, compound adjustment ok. Dust collection (even attached to vac) is poor. The only real problem with this product is it is very very heavy. For jobsite use I'd buy much lighter unit.
