This 6-inch slim-line grinder is the all-purpose grinder every shop should have. The flexible lamp on this grinder improves visibility while maintaining a safe distance from the grinding wheels. With the all ball bearing 1/4 horsepower induction motor it is designed for a long, trouble-free life. A cast-iron motor housing dissipates heat for extended operation, when combined with the motor weight and rubber food pads this unit is very quiet and the vibration is all but eliminated. Thumbscrew adjustable tool rests allow keeping the work surface close to the wheel as it wears. One tool rest even has a groove milled in it for sharpening drill bits correctly. It comes standard with a lighted on/off switch and adjustable safety shield as standard equipment.

This grinder works well for sharpening chisels, slotted screw drivers, and other small tools. It is quiet and operates smoothly with no perceptible vibration. It doesn't have variable speed, exotic attachments, or any other (in my case unneeded) features.

Quality construction. Tool rests are solid cast(not flimsy stamped like a lot of other grinders in this price range). Angled channel in right tool rest is great for sharpening drill bits. Super quiet - almost too quiet (can hardly tell that it's running). For the price (39.99 at Lowes), it has an attached flexible lamp!! Sturdy plastic spark deflectors are easily adjusted and are very transparent, so you can still see what you are doing. The only thing missing is variable speed control (how often would you find that feature useful?).

This is a good quality grinder for the price. Follow the directions in the manual and remove all of the packing grease. I removed the grinding wheels and cleaned the grease off of the shafts. Wheels run true with no vibration. Spark shields are thick and clear. Light is very helpful for old eyes. I would buy another if I had the need.
