This case hinders use of the phone
on December 13, 2011
This case seems sturdy, and looks fine in real use.
So why the low rating? Because it hinders usage of the phone. While pictures of this item show that the cutouts allows one to easily access the buttons and switch on the side of the phone, in reality it doesn't. The case snaps on securely and snugly, but the cut-outs are off a bit. That means that every time I want to move the switch, I have to lift up the edge of the case with my thumbnail in order to get to the switch. Doable, but annoying.
The reason I am writing this review though, is because of a worse flaw. This case on my phone makes pictures taken with the flash horribly washed out. When I first encountered the washed out pics, I was surprised -- because the first flash pics I took when I got this iPhone 4s were superb. What changed??? I did a search for "washed out iPhone pics" and quickly came across a forum that suggested taking the case off the camera. I tried that, and lo and behold my flash pics were great. When this case was put back on, shots in the same room / same lighting were horrible. It certainly is this case that is causing the pic problem.
(If anyone is interested, I'd be willing to take and upload pics of 1) the offset side cutout, and/or 2) the difference in flash pics from the iPhone taken with and without this case. Not going to spend the time though, unless others are interested.)
* Looks and feels reasonably good
*Use of some of the iPhone's physical functions requires removal of the case
