5.0 out of 5 stars Romance and Action! March 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Harris Channing has pulled together an interesting and rather unique read with The Demon Is In The Details. Stella isn't your typical heroine. She wants nothing to do with her old life, a childhood with an abusive aunt. But when her aunt dies, she realizes that to move on, she must return home to confront her demons, figuratively and literally. When she meets Zane, she falls in love for the first time. But Zane isn't who she thinks she is and Stella's hometown has changed, for the worst. Stella must not only confront her past, but also learn to accept who she truly is in order to save not only the world, but Zane. When Zane enters the story, you instantly fall for the guy, a man who has lived for thousands of years and is torn between his desire and his obligation. I really enjoyed watching Stella change and come into her own, truly becoming one kick-ass heroine. The love story is sweet and sexy and the action/adventure will keep you flipping the pages. This is a really unique paranormal romance!

The Devil in the Details was filled with action and the sweeter side of romance. After stricking out lately with PNRs, I am thrilled to read one that is so well constructed AND entertaining to read. Such an enjoyable story that is very well written, has great likable and quirky characters, "plausible" action, humor, and romance.

Stella has seen running from a traumatic past. Once her aunt dies she is forced back to her home town to deal with the pain and betrayal. Zane is an immortal with a calling from God to protect the innocent from evil. He is spiritually sent to help Stella. Stella doesn't know it yet but she has a special gift...one that God wants to protect and one that a very scary demon wants to own.

I really don't have anything negative to say about this book...I ate it up in less than two days. I thought the writing smart and witty with some humor, the characters refreshing, fun and original, and the plot well developed. I thought that the action scenes were really well done (and as believable as it can be in a paranormal romance....let's be realistic here). Zane was not painted as this perfect warrior, but a man who is tired of fighting after 2000 years but knows that Stella is to be protected at all costs. He is the imperfect hero that you will find perfect.

The romance is sweet and smartly done and a nice change. I guess some disclaimers: This is Not a bodice ripper and has very little sex and more sexual tension. So if you are looking for something steamy, take a pass on this one. Personnally it was a nice change, sometimes the sex in romances don't make sense when they did get together. This book made it work. Oh and even though this is about heaven and hell, good and evil, it is not preachy and has a great balance.

I recommend it to romance readers who like a little action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book! October 20, 2013
By Kimmie
Format:Kindle Edition
Stella Campbell had no desire to go back to Silverton, GA, ever. But her sadistic, witchy aunt has died and she must put the house up for sale and bury the old hag. Coming back means facing her fears. Things that her aunt put her through many years ago still haunt her to this day. Is she strong enough to face this place yet again?

Zane Weathers is a warrior. He has lived centuries fighting the battle against all evil. Then his gut brings him to Silverton and right to Stella Campbell. The attraction he feels for her hits him like a freight train. Can he protect her from the evil she faces? And what will come of these feelings he is having towards her?

I really enjoyed this book. It had me in its grasp from the beginning. It was suspenseful, steamy, and even had some funny parts at times! Harris Channing has done a fabulous job on this book and I can't wait to read more. I highly recommend this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique Paranormal Romance September 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really liked The Demon Is In the Details. It is so different from most paranormals. I loved Zane and his background. Ms. Channing is an excellent writer. Stella is a strong heroine. She doesn't start out that way, but she grows as the story progresses. This is scary in parts, but the type scary that keeps you reading. The story ended a little abruptly. No doubt Ms. Channing is setting up a sequel but I was disappointed to not find the sequel here. I want to read it. I was a tad disappointed in the ending. I wanted to know if Stella is now immortal and if she is really Dulcia. These questions were left unanswered. I can't wait for the sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars very interesting book June 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This book wasn't what I expected. It's not your run of the mill paranormal romance. The heroine is flawed and damaged but she really does find her strength by the conclusion of the book.

The story leaves an opening for a sequel and I hope the author writes another!

1.0 out of 5 stars High hopes completely dashed. March 29, 2012

Let me first say that I couldn't even finish this book. The description sounded great, the reviews made me think I had hit the jackpot finding a great freebie read... The girl on the cover bothered me a little, the doe eyed look should have warned me that the female lead was going to be a clueless damsel in distress. Stella was simply too stupid to live. Like you really need to know WHY a demon is trying to murder you WHILE he's trying to murder you? Shouldn't you be more concerned with something like not dying? She's such a wimpy crybaby, I couldn't stand her. Zane seemed great and I hate that I'm going to miss out on getting to know him a bit more. So this isn't really a review, it's a warning: the female lead character is dreadful. Perhaps she redeems herself down the road, but I dislike her so much that I just don't care.
