Great Peak at Exam, June 9, 2008
This review is from: DEWALT Building Contractor's Licensing Exam Guide (Paperback)
There is nothing wrong with this book. DeWalt is a solid name in the business, and their book is reliable as their drill is reliable. This one let me know that I'm O.K. on certain subjects and that I'm a pretty good guesser on others but that I couldn't fool anyone on one of them. It is a book which will give you a good idea of the questions which are asked on the exam. As for informing you on the subject matter, once or twice I said, "Oh yeah? I'll have to remember that!" or "Hmm - now that makes sense!" but mostly it was just "Now, how was I supposed to know that?" and the answer is obvious: I just didn't learn it, I didn't know it, I'd never come into contact with it. Nothing beats experience, and the state Builder's Code has all the answers, but the Builder's Code is like a phone book. DeWalt's booklet is great if you have a few hours to spend seeing the kind of things you know (and the kind of things you don't). Then you ought to have a pretty good idea if you need to do a little reading in the Builder's Code.
