Good light-to-medium duty drill,

It's inexpensive, light weight and it works. If you're drilling (or driving screws) into pine 2 x 4's, plywood, etc. this drill has plenty of power. The light weight also makes it easy to use for extended periods. This is a great little drill for light-to-medium duty. Understand that if you're remodeling an old house (75+ years) where the wood feels like more like stone, you'll find it difficult driving screws and boring large holes. If you already know you're going to be drilling rock-hard materials, go get a Milwaukee Magnum (a much higher torque, more expensive and noticeably heavier tool).

Pretty good, but there's better,

Overall, this is a good drill. It's powerful, has a great chuck, isn't heavy, works well as a screwdriver, and isn't too loud. My only real complaint is that the handle isn't very comfortable. It's made only of plastic (no rubber grip), and this plastic has an abrasive pattern in it. It's not too hard to get used to (especially if you have tough hands), but nevertheless it's still uncomfortable.
Also, something I don't like about most corded drills (this one included) is that the handle is at the back of the drill, aka behind the center of gravity of the drill. So, when holding the drill you have to hold it back to keep it level, which often makes you accidentally press the trigger. Most cordless drills and some corded ones have the handle near the center to prevent the drill from tipping forward or backwards when you're just holding it up in the air. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them. Before I got this drill I was concerned about how it would perform when using it as a screwdriver because (like most corded drills) it doesn't have a clutch. For example, my dad's old corded drill has lots of momentum and no clutch, so after letting go of the trigger the drill keeps going for quite a while, which makes screwing quite difficult because it often puts the screw in too far. But, I was happy to find out that this DeWalt stops fairly quickly after letting go of the trigger (despite having no clutch) so it works well as a screwdriver. I know of some other drills that have more comfortable handles and that have the handle at the center of the drill, so if you're concerned about comfort then I suggest looking elsewhere. But, if a little discomfort doesn't bother you then this will be a great drill for you.

I like to support the American Economy but when it comes to drills your only even half USA assembled drill is Milwaukee and for the price it's no comparison. Dewalt makes a quality product. When I shop for a tool the first question I ask is what Brand do the guys who make their living with this tool use...and the most common drill i see in tool boxes is Dewalt.I DO NOT recommend ANY keyless drill, they are junk, I'm a bodybuilder and no matter how hard I wrench down a bit in a keyless drill it will work loose during operation. Have not had that issue with this drill. Also a nice size, I was going to go 1/2" but some of them tend to be longer ect and I often work in tight spaces. All in all a good quality at a very hard to beat price. (under $60 is what I paid) Only gave 4 stars because time will tell if it holds up and deserves 5. 5 stars to me says it's an exceptional product that no matter what they charge you should buy it because it will last forever...those days are gone, every is made to be disposable any more.
