5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Drill at an Ordinary Price
This thing ties with my Bosch jigsaw for favorite tool in my home shop. It's tough, powerful and cheap. If you're looking for a high-quality drill for home projects, this is the one to buy. Forget cordless if you're on a budget; you'll spend more money for something less powerful that constantly runs out of power in the middle of a project. Your house has electricity. Buy...

I agree with the reviews describing the tool as powerful and great feel to it. I will be exchanging my second one very soon. The first one's chuck would not stay tight and would slip on the bit. The second one has a defective switch. It will not stop running when you release the trigger in forward direction. In reverse, it will stop. The trigger hangs on the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent drill, powerful & well balanced -- but noisy, March 25, 2005
This review is from: DEWALT D21008K Heavy-Duty 6 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill Kit with Keyless Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a very nice, well designed drill. I use it mostly for drilling pocket holes with a Kreg jig. It's so much easier to drill pocket holes with this powerful 2500 RPM corded drill, compared to a slow cordless drill. This drill is super powerful, well balanced, and has a very comfortable hand grip. The Jacobs ratcheting chuck works nicely and has a great feel when tightened. The Dewalt case is also very nice with plenty of extra storage space and metal latches. My only complaint, though, is that this drill is very noisy. I wish Dewalt would focus more engineering on lowering noise output.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent new model, October 27, 2002

I've used DeWalt Drills before, and they've always seemed solid. This drill keeps that impression going. The Manufacturer Notes for some tools are way too glowing. Read the ones for this drill - they're right on. The keyless chuck is the best I've ever seen, the bits just dont slip, even in soft gummy woods that tend to bind up bits. It's good to see that improvements can still be made, and the price stays the same as the old model.

This drill works fantastic! The first project I used it on was to drill mounting holes for casters into 8/4 rock maple. This drill handled the task perfectly. I have been using this drill for about 6 months now with no complaints.

I use it primarily in tandem with my other cordless drill. I use it mainly to drill the holes and use my other drill to drive screws.

I have not had any problems with the keyless chuck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Drill at a great price, November 29, 2003

This review is from: DEWALT D21008K Heavy-Duty 6 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill Kit with Keyless Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have owned this drill for nearly two months. This was purchased as a replacement for my old Skil Drill and has been awesome. The keyless chuck is excellent - I have not experienced ANY loosening as some other reviewers have, The speed control is perfection and the power is impressive. I don't like cordless powertools much and am always on the lookout for a good tool for a great price. This one fits the bill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another DeWalt Success, June 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: DEWALT D21008K Heavy-Duty 6 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill Kit with Keyless Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
I needed a little more speed without giving up any power. I got both, and all packaged in another fine power tool from DeWalt.
This variable speed reversible drill has a simple, but efficient design. The craftsmanship of assembly is very good. The ratcheting chuck is not only handy, but solid as well (from 3/8 all the way down to a 1/16 bit). The trigger action is smooth and speed is proportional to the movement. Reversal switch is convenient and I like the fact they have removed the trigger lock (safer).
I am very pleased with this drill and would recommend it to a hobbyist or a professional.

The trigger hangs on the forward-reverse lever. A drop of oil did not help. This is a potentially dangerous situation when the drill does not stop until you manually pull the switch out or unplug it. However, I will try one more time to get a good one. I like the tool design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top of Line Drill, December 27, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: DEWALT D21008K Heavy-Duty 6 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill Kit with Keyless Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
This drill is top of the line. I't light, comfortable, and the most power of any 3/8" drill out there. The keyless chuck w/ratchet lock works like a champ. Best of all it's made in the USA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Drill for Medium Duty, December 14, 2005
This review is from: DEWALT D21008K Heavy-Duty 6 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill Kit with Keyless Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
THE UPSIDE

1) It's CHEAP!! Feels well made, but under $60.

2) The motor is smooth and torquey, and spins up to 2500 rpm so it's useful for using with a wire wheel.

3) Ratcheting keyless chuck really locks down well.

THE DOWN SIDE

1) Concerned about the quality of the power cord. I have a Dewalt 1/4 pad sander and after 6 years the condition of the power cord began to deteriorate. It's like it started to dry-rot. It always stays in my garage too!

SUMMARY

That's really about it. It's not heavy duty, and for that I have a Milwaukee Magnum 1/2" Drill. But for the price I would buy this WAY OVER an economy drill like Black and Decker, Task Force, General Machinery Corp, Central Electric (UGHH!!H!H!! why do people get sucked into buying junk like that???) or Ryobi

This drill is great - I didn't know that I had to buy bits for it (it's the first time I bought a drill), but even so - it's worked out great for me - thanks to the others who reviewed this product, you hit the nail on the head!
