Best 110AC compressor, PERIOD., December 21, 2009
This review is from: DEWALT D55170 7.5-Amp 1-1/2-Horsepower 8-Gallon Wheeled Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor (Tools & Home Improvement)
PROS:
Portable.
Plugs in to normal household outlet.
Decent capacity.
Good CFM - almost enough to do continuous DA sanding. Enough for painting a car.
Sound is moderate.
CONS:
Could have more capacity for the floor space it eats.
Could be a touch quieter.
Would like a stronger compressor with just a bit more CFM, but with 110AC, 1.5hp is about the best you are going to see.
Opinion:
If you need an electric compressor for fairly high-consumption applications but do not want to spend a ton of money or rewire your life, this is it. You can always put it in parallel with another compressor or just a tank, to increase the stored air.
If you pay more than $400, you are getting shanked.
Personally, I suggest getting this and one of those big vertical jobs, link them together, and you get the output of this compressor (good) plus a little more from the other one (probably not as good), but you also get the bigger storage which would be nice.
