Enjoy the portable convenience of a battery-powered light with the DEWALT DC020 cordless/corded worklight, which can run off a battery or plugged it into a 120-volt wall outlet. From crawl spaces to basements, it can be used wherever additional lighting is required to complete jobs, and it's ideal for plumbers, electricians, mechanical contractors, general contractors, elevator technicians, installers, and punch-out crews. It's powered by DEWALT's 12- and 18-volt cordless batteries (not included).
Power and Performance
The DC020 worklight has a 38-watt fluorescent bulb that emits a room-brightening 2,700 lumens. It also has a low amp draw and runs at a much cooler temperature when compared to halogen portable worklights that produce intense heat and glaring light--perfect for working in small, dark spaces, such as attics, closets, crawlspaces and under decks and porches.
The worklight can use AC power or 12-/18-volt DEWALT batteries. A spring-loaded battery hold down keeps batteries in place when transporting from place to place. For additional jobsite power solutions, the DC020 is equipped with two AC power outlets, which help to eliminate the need for additional power strips. And its compact design provides quick and easy fold-up, transport, and storage.
DEWALT's XRP Extended-Life Battery System
In addition to using 12-volt batteries, the DC020 worklight is also compatible with DEWALT's 18-volt XRP extended run time batteries, which provide up to 40 percent more run time than standard Ni-Cad batteries. And any XRP battery can be used with any 18-volt DEWALT tool, which allows you to expand your system by adding other DEWALT cordless tools (sold separately) as the demands of your job grow.
This DEWALT tool is backed by three-year limited warranty covering any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship (from the date of purchase). It's also covered by DEWALT's one-year free service contract, where DEWALT will maintain the tool and replace worn parts caused by normal use--for free.

This would be a 5 star dewalt tool had they included a multi chemistry charger in the same manner the dc022 had 2 chargers built into it. Everything is there - power, battery holder, and light so there is no excuse for not putting a lithium capable charger inside this unit which is why it's only 4 star rated. Dewalt did do a good job packing with the light packed separately, however be sure that you put the light cover aside exactly as it came off - it has a rounded side and a flat side, so of the 4 possible re-attachment methods, only one works.
Having covered the 020's negatives, I like the smaller size of the DC020 for portability. The 022 is a big lamp with 3 gfci outlets and 2 chargers while the 020 adds more flexibility for batteries (but just one socket and no gfci - I carry a separate gfci anyways) - one less outlet, and perhaps a better design for portability.
The folded u shaped tube is used in many CF torcherie lamps that replace the hot burning 500watt halogen deisngs previously used.Read more ›
Much faster -- and so much cooler in the garage with no A/C -- than trying to set up and plug in my old-style Halogen lights on tripods. It takes just a few seconds to grab them and turn them on. Then I've learned how great they are and now I'm using them in the office for extra backlighting behind my desk. As it turns out, they're also great for computer work without glare (just aim at ceiling). They seem very tough, too. (Try to remember they're lights and made of glass, but it's easy to forget with such a sturdy housing!) There's a hard plexiglass cover over the bulb itself. The only con I've found is that they don't also charge the battery the way the radio does, as another reviewer noted, but that's no big deal to me. (Incidentally, the vacuum cleaner doesn't charge the batteries either.)
They're just fantastic. I can't address the reliability of the bulbs or ballasts, yet, but DeWALT makes good stuff. I'll post back if I have any problems.
