5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of power in a little package
I drill alot of concrete around pools installing automatic pool covers. I can tell you this drill has plenty of power. In fact I don't use it when drilling smaller 1/4 holes as the 36 volt hammer drill is plenty for that. It really shines drilling 1/2" holes in pool decks. Fast and light. I love the 36 volt batteries. They hold there charge for weeks. I was using dewalt...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lowest price not always the best way to go!
After ordering the 36 volt SDS Drill DC233KL, I started to read all the horror stories associated with the Batteries. when my kit arrived, like so many others it came with a dead battery that would not charge. I love the 36 volt batteries. They hold there charge for weeks. I was using dewalt 18volt drills which were fine but the batteries would drain so fast and would be dead if I did not keep the charged until I needed them. I just wish they would make a right angle 36 volt drill and a portable fan to keep me cool!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DEWALT DC233KL 36-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless 1-inch SDS Rotary Hammer Kit with NANO Technology (Tools & Home Improvement)
After ordering the 36 volt SDS Drill DC233KL, I started to read all the horror stories associated with the Batteries. when my kit arrived, like so many others it came with a dead battery that would not charge. So off to the local DeWalt repair center to exchange the battery. At the local repair center they had told me that the date code stamped on the battery goes back to the 40th week of 2006!(kit was purchased 01/12/2011) I then decided to call the DeWalt customer service number who was very plesant, picked up very quick and answered all my questions. They had confirmed that the DC233 kit that I had purchased through Amazon.com was what was called "new old stock" and that the kit was manufactured in 2006. I could either exchange the batteries which one is in process now, or send the whole kit back for refund which I probably am going to do. Everyone who purchases any cordless products, check the manufacture date of the batteries/tool to make sure they fall into the range of a "new" battery. I also found the site that the kit was sold through Amazon from, and they had the seal that states that the web store is an approved DeWalt online store. I'm not blaming Amazon for this because I always have quick, and good service from them however, I think once the new battery comes in, I'll send this kit back and purchase a newer manufactured kit. The headline on the description for this DC233KL stated its a "NEW Kit" but I believe its miss leading. Should be listed as "New Old Stock DC233KL manufactured In 2006"

4.0 out of 5 stars Hammer Function, February 6, 2012

This review is from: DEWALT DC233KL 36-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless 1-inch SDS Rotary Hammer Kit with NANO Technology (Tools & Home Improvement)
I received the DEWALT DC233KL 36-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless 1-inch SDS Rotary Hammer Kit with NANO Technology on time. But when I tried it, only the Drill functions were working not the Hammer function. I dropped it off at the Dewalt Factory Service Center at 2512 Tripaldi Way in Hayward, Ca to have it fixed. The technician told me that it wasn't a big problem. He said even though it was a new drill, but since the product was an older model, it must have been sitting on the shelf for almost 6 years, and the lubricant had dried out. They are going to fix it free of charge as part of warranty service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Where Corded Not An Option, December 1, 2007
This review is from: DEWALT DC233KL 36-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless 1-inch SDS Rotary Hammer Kit with NANO Technology (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this tool mainly for drilling into rock up in the mountains to place anchor bolts for climbing. Let me tell you, this thing blasts through rock as well as concrete. It is actually as fast or faster than my corded rotary hammer I use. This thing is a fun little toy as well (I find myself going around and finding stuff to drill)

Bottom line: if you need to get some heavy duty drilling done, this is a great tool to have by your side
