At a Glance

DC720 Compact Drill/Driver

The versatile DEWALT DC720 features a high-performance, frameless motor that's capable of delivering a maximum of 410 unit watts out, translating to performance in a broad range of applications. The drill/driver also features dual-range, variable-speed control--from 0 to 500/0 to 1,700 RPM--that makes material-specific performance easier to achieve. Stay on point with its 1/2-inch, single-sleeve ratcheting chuck, which works to reduce bit slippage as you work.

DCS392 Circular Saw

The DEWALT DCS392 6-1/2-inch circular saw features 3,700 RPM of power for fast and clean rip cuts and cross cuts, an included carbide-tipped blade, and a 0-to-50-degree bevel capacity that provides additional capacity for a multitude of applications. It can also cut at a 45-degree angle in a single pass.

DW938 Reciprocating Saw

The variable speed DEWALT DW938 reciprocating saw drives its blade at 0-2,800 strokes per minute, and it has a cutting stroke length of 1 inch. Other features include reversing blade for upside-down cutting, pivoting show with open top for maximum visibility, trigger lock for increased blade control, and an electric brake that prevents blades from breaking when exiting plunge cuts.

DW908 Pivoting Head Flashlight

Flexible and durable, the DEWALT DW908 offers hands-free lighting with up to 3 hours of continuous burn time on a single charge. Rotate the head to achieve the perfect, steady beam of light in those hard to illuminate workplaces.

DEWALT's XRP Extended-Life Battery System

A tool's only useful if it runs long enough to get the job done, and the DEWALT XRP extended run time batteries keeps your tools running at full tilt. They provide up to 40 percent more run time than standard Ni-Cad batteries, and any XRP battery can be used with any 18-volt DEWALT tool, which allows you to expand your system by adding other DEWALT cordless tools (sold separately) as the demands of your job grow.

The DC4CKITA combo kit comes with two standard 18-volt and a 1-hour charger (XRP batteries sold separately).

Warranty

This DEWALT tool is backed by three-year limited warranty covering any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship (from the date of purchase). It's also covered by DEWALT's one-year free service contract, where DEWALT will maintain the tool and replace worn parts caused by normal use--for free.

One of the reasons I selected this combo set is because it didn't include the hammer drill. Almost every combo set DeWalt offers has a hammer drill included, and i don't need one.

Cordless dril is excellent. Battery life seems very good. The circular saw works well too. It will use a battery pretty fast compared to the drill. I suppose a sharp blade is mandatory. The reciprocating saw seems to work well but i haven't found a lot of uses for it yet. Haven't used the light at all. Maybe I will find a need for it.

Batteries charge in 1 hour or less. However, you can run one down in less than an hour with the circular saw if you are cutting a lot, better start with them both charged and keep them rotating or you will be shut down. It was nice that this set has two batteries included.

I bought this set when I moved into my house. I decided it was time to get a good set of tools for work around the house. This set has proven to have been a good investment time and time again.
-The drill is really the must have item in this set- it has enough power for just about anything you can throw at it with the 18 volt batteries. Additionally, the fact that the set comes with two batters is also a winner in my book- I can use the light and the drill at once, which is great when you are working under the sink or other dark tight spaces.
-The light is bright and the adjustable head is excellent when you don't have someone with you to give you a helping hand.
-The reciprocating saw doesn't come with blades, but since those are relatively inexpensive and you go through them so quickly, that can be excused. The reciprocating saw has been extremely useful for around the house projects. Again, the 18 volt batteries are a big selling point!
-Truth be told, I haven't used the trim saw yet. I am sure that I will have a use for it eventually, but I haven't done any big projects.
Overall- good set, I recommend it for anyone that has a lot of projects around the house!

This combo kit is a GREAT pick up if you are a weekend DIY kind of person. Every piece in this kit performs fantastic. The drill/driver has gotten the most use so far, as I do a lot of hanging, joining, and driving projects. The circular saw comes in at second most-used. It handles 2x4s, 2x6s, and plywood perfectly. It's fast, relatively quiet, and delivers when I need it to. The reciprocating saw has only been used a couple of times so far, but it has handled what I tossed at it without problem. The batteries charge fast, and seem to have plenty of juice for my projects. If I have to share a battery between 2 tools because the other battery is charging, I don't have to do so for very long because the battery on the charger is ready within an hour.

The bag that this kit comes with is fairly sturdy, and you can put a couple of extra cases in it for your drill/driver bits, and your reciprocating saw blades. You may have to finagle the tools a bit to get it to close, but once you figure out a good layout, you're good to go.

The only thing that I would like to see get added to this combo kit is the rip fence for the circular saw. I was a little disappointed that it did not come with this kit, but not disappointed enough to knock a star off the rating.

If you are buying these to use around the home they will be able to perform any task asked of them.

DeWalt constantly produces high quality tools that perform at a high level. These are no exception.

If you are buying tools the best lesson my dad ever taught me about tools is to never buy the cheapest ones, they won't be as cheap when you have to replace them and they won't work quite as well. Cordless drills and saws allow no exception to that rule. DeWalt puts out a superior product at a competitve price.

The battery life is solid and they recharge quickly. If you are a DIYer you will only need 1 battery, if you are a contracter you may want 2 or 3.

These are light enough that a smaller woman could handle them, but sturdy enough that you won't get laughed off the jobsite if you are a contractor.

Great set and combo especially for the Gold Box deal price under $190. I know some folks are knocking the battery and while it is larger than some of the lithium-ion batteries its also A LOT cheaper and should do the job for most DIY homeowners like myself. The tools seem of good quality and have a lot of torque for the drills. Even the flashlight is quite handy to have for those areas where you need some extra light.

I will say, It bothers me when folks come on to review a product and talk about all the things it does not have (ex. XRP line, etc.) especially when its not advertised as having that. If having those extra features are important to you, then pay the extra price. There is a reason why companies make various models in order to fit the consumer.

And no they are not Dewalt Look a likes.

At first, I was unpleasantly surprised by how light-weight and sort of cheap these felt. But, they have been manhandled for months on a construction site, by crew members who aren't at all gentle, and are holding up just fine.

One of the tools had a problem -- the saw, I think. Called DeWalt and they took care of replacing it with zero hassle. I've dealt with them in the past, and they're great. I wish I could say the same thing about having my prematurely-malfunctioning Makita drill repaired.

All and all, a really great price for tools that work well.
