The impact driver is equally impressive, and you wont realize how much youve needed one until you have one. Its super compact and surprisingly lightweight, easing the burden on your arm and letting you get into the tightest workspace. Once youre in there, youve got an amazing 1,150 inch-pounds of torque in your hand, making short work of even the biggest fasteners without taking a toll on your body. Great in the shop or on the jobsite.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Hammerdrill/ Impact Combo,
By Ryan Lineberger "woodworker/ pipe organ techn... (Lincolnton, NC USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: DEWALT DC984IA Heavy Duty 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 2-Tool Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is an excellent buy from Dewalt. The Quality of the XRP tools is superb. Right out of the box I was impressed with the look of the tools. I am a woodworker and the impact driver is a real handy tool. Since I've been using the impact driver, I have never stripped out another screw head. This used to happen quite a bit using a drill to drive screws. This is my favorite tool. I haven't had the need to use the hammerdrill yet but I am looking forward thinking about different projects I will be able to use it for. The included Dewalt bag has come in very handy also. I have plenty of room to put in the drill, driver, and the charger with room left to put in things like drop cords and worklights. I am very satisfied with my purchase. All the guys at the shop are jealous too.

14.4v Hammer Drill Chuck Wobbel,
By Tim in Melboune (Melbourne Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: DEWALT DC984IA Heavy Duty 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 2-Tool Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
There is signficant wobbel in the Chuck that is provided with the 14.4v Hammer Drill. I've contacted the Dewalt customer service representatives, but they deny there is any systemic issue with their manufacturing and quality control process on this particular drill(I've seen several other reviews on this drill that indicate similiar problems). I like the 14.4v impact driver, tons of power. However, after using my dads Makita I find that drill impact driver to probably be a better balanced tool and the metal hydride batteries are a plus. If I can get the Chuck wobbel straightened out with Dewalt on the hammer drill I would still consider this a good deal.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DEWALT DC984IA Heavy Duty 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless 2-Tool Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
Just got these in the mail today and used both of the drills tonight. So far they work great. I am building a house right now and I can already tell how useful these drills will be. The impact drill drives screws fast and easy. I am building the countertops for my home and the screws I drive into the plywood sheets enter the wood with amazing speed. The other nice thing about this drill is that the torque "breaks" when the screw is flush with the wood. Although you can still drive the screw deeper if you wish. The hammer drill works great too. I used it tonight to drill a door catch for my basement door. The security screws that hold the deadbolt catch are so long that you have to drill into the foundation. No problem at all with this drill. The other thing I love about this drill is the ease in tightening the bit onto the drill. With one hand you can tighten the drill bit...like I said I am in love. I would recommend this package to anyone in the market for a new drill set. A+.
