This is also the best version of all DeWalt Impacts.

Plus, the three speeds give you fine control of driving in screws and fasteners (think of it as a VERY long-throw trigger).

It has excellent ergonomics and balance, and feels great in your hand.

I got this impact gun because I wasn't satisfied with the power of the 12v model. The 20v max definitely has the power. The 3 speeds is a nice feature over other impact guns just to give you flexibility and control at how fast you are driving. The battery life on the new Li-Ion 20v batteries is OUTSTANDING! I was able to run the drill for over 3 weeks at moderate shop and install usage. The battery life indicators are good to have and fun to watch how long the battery holds charge, even when sitting in the case, minumum loss. The brushless motor is smooth and I think even a little bit quieter or a lower pitch noise than other impact drivers which is nice on the ears. The driver is a decent weight and the grip is comfortable. I really like that the 'chuck' is in the housing of the drill and not sticking out the front. It makes it have less wobble in your driver tip and over all a shorter profile front to back.

If you are looking for a heavy duty impact driver that will hold up I would deinitely recommend the DeWalt 20v Max Brushless. With the price they have on Amazon for a brushlees motor you're getting a good deal.

I recently decided to purchase the Dewalt brushless impact driver after looking closely at all of the available impact drivers. I had been looking at the Makita three-speed driver, particularly since my local hardware store was offering it for $299 with an extra battery pack; however, when I saw the specs on the new Dewalt, I decided to go with it.

There were several key reasons for me -
- I've had a great experience this past year with the new Dewalt 12V tools;
- I was a little wary of the membrane switch that Makita uses to control speed selection on their driver - in my experience, the membranes invariably break down;
- I really liked then new recessed chuck design on the Dewalt.

After using it for a week for repairs around the house, I'm completely sold on the Dewalt. It's a beautifully-crafted tool that just feels great in the hand. It's balanced well and has great "heft" without any sense of feeling heavy or clumsy. Plus, the three speeds give you fine control of driving in screws and fasteners (think of it as a VERY long-throw trigger). There is definitely a cost premium for the 895 over the brushed driver, but the fine control that the three speeds, brushless motor, and electronic controller give you allows this to serve as the only driver needed for everything from heavy-duty work to installing delicate fasteners.

I've done a range of work this past week with the 895, from extracting three-inch lag bolts from my porch foundation to adding reinforcing screws to existing 1x4 trim around my gutters - in trim that was old and weathered - and it handled everything beautifully. I've used a lot of tools over the years, but this is one that I kept finding reasons to pull out and use, and found myself smiling every time I did.

This is a great impact driver. One of the best features is the 3 settings. Allows you to match the power with the job at hand.
Brushless design goes a long time with the 20v battery before recharging.
I would definitely buy this tool again.

FYI - the "B" at the end of a DeWALT tool number stands for "bare tool". This means no charger, no batteries, no case or bag, just the tool. So unless you have the required DeWALT charger and batteries, don't by the barre tool, by a kit.

As for this impact driver, it is excellent. Two things stand out with this unit, versatility and access.

It has three speeds or modes giving it great versatility.
1 / 2 / 3
950/1900/2850 max rpm
500/ 900/1500 max in-lbs torque

I've installed face plates in mode one without issue, set 2" deck screws with mode two, and bored holes with spade bits in mode three. An impact driver has about 2.5 times the torque of a drill driver and 40% higher max rpm than a drill driver, so it's made to drive fasteners in a hurry. Unlike a drill driver, an impact has no clutch, so dialing down the max torque for different applications is a major plus.

The second thing that stands out with this impact driver is that it's compact, only 5.25" long from front to back and weighs only 2.2 pounds.
To get down to 5.25" DeWALT recessed the 1/4" chuck so that it is flush to the housing. To release the bit, you push the yellow button. The chuck is the "drop in" style and the push button release gives you true one handed bit change capability. At first I was wary of the recessed chuck. It could mean extra steps if a bit ever got stuck. After using this unit, I've grown to appreciate this feature.

It has three LED lights around the chuck with a 20 second delay after trigger release for good visibility in low light. It comes with a belt hook and a bit holder. It has excellent ergonomics and balance, and feels great in your hand. It's also brushless.

I have owned this drill for a bit over a year, it's got better power than any other guys impact easy, the speed help to match power to work and it is very light. This drill is also very durable as I have dropped out once from an 8' ladder and once off a scissor lift about 15' in the air and it hit concrete inside floor in a data center and it still works like it's out the box!!!!

Things it won't do: take off lugs on your car lol, its a drill not a wrench. My rsx had its ruins at a measly 85ft/lbs and it couldn't get them, so if it gets yours off... that's scary you drove on those! Lol

It also won't "feel" as powerful as the brushed drill in your hand cause the brushed give you the kick in the air (which is awesome) but there just soon on clean, you feel the power when you work with it!!

Either way love it, no flaws in my eyes and I use mine daily.
