This tool also offers a heavy-duty, 1/2-inch, self-tightening chuck with bit-gripping strength. When placed in hammerdrill mode, the tool delivers 8,500 to 34,000 beats per minute for making holes in masonry. In addition, an L.E.D. work light near the trigger provides increased visibility when you're working in dark or confined spaces, and the tool's well-balanced body and mid-handle, comfortable grip help keep you in control at all times.
Versatile Reciprocating Saw with Four-Position Blade Clamp
Quick, versatile, and ready for a range of cutting applications, the DC385 XRP 18-Volt Reciprocating Saw offers a stroke length of 1-1/8 inches, variable speed control ranging from 0 to 3,000 spm, and a four-position blade clamp that allows flush cutting.
This saw offers an antislip comfort grip for increased control and reduced user fatigue. Other key features include an adjustable, pivoting shoe and trigger lock for repeat cutting. For added convenience, the blade clamp releases using an easy to operate lever that allows for quick, keyless blade changes.
Trademarked XRP Extended-Life Battery System
Two XRP nickel-cadmium extended run-time batteries keep all of these tools running at optimum levels. They provide up to 40 percent more run time than standard ni-cad batteries, and any XRP battery can be used with any 18-volt DEWALT tool, which allows you to expand your system by adding other DEWALT cordless tools (sold separately) as the demands of your job grow. In addition, the one-hour ni-cad charger helps maintain power to your packs all day long.
This 18-Volt XRP Hammerdrill/Reciprocating Saw Combo Kit comes with a DEWALT warranty package that includes a three-year limited warranty, a one-year free service contract, and a 90-day money back guarantee.

This review is from: DEWALT DCK251X 18-Volt XRP Hammerdrill/Reciprocating Saw Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
There have been alot of mixed emotions around dewalt's move to li-ion batteries. less weight, less torque, longer charge, all sorts of comments, and many of them are rooted with good reason.I'm still avoiding the li-ion path at this point, but I try to buy tools that have the LED like the DEWALT DC823KA 18-Volt 3/8-Inch Impact Wrench. These tools typically have the base that will handle nicad or li-ion but due to the explosion problems with li-ion cells they are being current limited, which drops the torque - fine for flashlights, but not fine for big drills. My cheapo kit 18V drill smoked the other day meaning I had to buy a new drill. I wanted a hammerdrill since they are so effective at securing to masonary. My first hammerdrill is still working, but it is 14V and I am moving away from the 14V batteries. Soo - when I went shopping I found this nice package. You get the new style lighted hammerdrill with the metal transmission case instead of plastic, plus the 90 degree handle. It also includes the 18V sawzall from dewalt, which again mine was 14V. And most importantly you get 2 XRP (2.4-2.5 Ah) packs in NiCad. For motor use NiCads are still a great choice especially with recycle bins at the nearest radio shack for old packs. Also my 38W area worklight/gfci/dual charger does not handle li=ion packs, so I'm forced to use nicads with it. Since it will charge all the non-li-ion packs it makes a great charger to have on a jobsite with plenty of light, 3 electrical outlets, gfci, and a good size cord DEWALT DC022 Combination 38-Watt Fluorescent Worklight and 7.2-Volt to 18-Volt Dual-Port Pod-Style Battery Charger with GFCI Protection So I'll stay in the NiCad age for a while longer, treat my batteries right, and get a great price on a tool combo set that I needed anyways as I migrate to 18volts, not to mention the dewalt bag that comes with the kit.
