The second main component in this kit, the DC827 18-volt impact driver, is an equally impressive tool. With the ability to deliver 1,330 in./lbs. of torque and 0-2,400 RPM performance for fast, effective tightening and loosening of fasteners, this impact driver is surprisingly light and compact at just 3.7 pounds and 5-3/5 inches long. Also outfitted with an anti-slip rubber grip and an ergonomic design, this well-balanced tool is comfortable to work with in all kinds of spaces. An onboard LED light and convenient bit storage provide additional benefits. Each of these tools is powered by an 18-volt NANO-phosphate lithium ion battery. These batteries make use of exclusive DeWalt technology to ensure longer run times and improved long-term performance, with each battery good for an impressive 2,000 recharges. Two batteries, a one-hour charger, a 360-degree side handle, and a contractor bag for easy transport and organized storage round out this kit.

I have this kit with the old XRP batteries, bought about a year ago. Needed a second pair an was interested in the new battery system, so I wanted to give this a try. Here are my thoughts after about 2 weeks:
The tools themselves are roughly the same as the XRP versions. The new impact driver (DC827) is nicer than my old DW056 (snappier, seems to have more power, feels better in hand and more compact for tight spaces) and seems to be exactly the same (except for the footprint) as the DC825 that one of my co-workers has. The hammer drill itself has one nice change from my old model: the selector between screw, drill, and hammer drill is separate from the chuck's torque setting: so changes between modes are much faster and I like the added screw mode. Regarding the Nano batteries, in comparison with the old batteries, they're great - they're lighter and seem to last longer on a charge. I haven't run one long enough to know how many recharges it will last. The tools designed for these new batteries are smaller than the older tools and a touch lighter. One negative - the old tools have about a half inch overhang in the front and back of the new batteries - it looks a little silly, but otherwise who cares? they stay on very securely and work well. They're sturdy. My only real complaint is that the batteries they don't sit very snugly in the charger. This is because there is a very small plastic rim missing from the old XRP batteries. They still charge fine, but you actually have to look at the charger's LED to make sure there's solid contact. Poor work, DeWalt, but not a big deal in my mind. An easy fix is to sit a spare battery or small weight on the battery while in the charger. Briefly, from about 2 weeks daily use: Pros (that I can personally verify - marketing also claims they will recharge many more times): -nice upgrades to tools -Smaller than old XRP battery -Lighter -Tool lasts longer on a charge Cons: -Old XRP tools have very small overhang out the front and back -Have to actually look at the charger to make sure they're charging Overall, very pleased. Would give 4-1/2 stars, the only reason it's not 5 is how it sits on the charger

We have used Dewalt tools at work for years. The problems we have had have always been with battery life. These new batteries have solved that problem. They have a lot of power and will last for days. (the old batteries would not last through one day). One thing, however, that will take a little getting used to is that when the battery is low the tools just stop. They will go from full power to nothing.

i'm a commercial electrician who uses these tools every day. don't waste your money on any other brand i've tried them all makita, ridged, Milwaukee, hilti, ryobe most are cheeper but you get what u pay for. if your looking for the best quality tools dewalt is what you want and the lithium batteries are great! they really are as good as advertised. i've been using them about 6 months or so and they still work like they are brand new.
