This is a well designed and very useful edge guide sold at a reasonable price. It even has a place for screw storage when not in use. It is much more compact than the DeWalt DW6913 Router Edge Guide with Fine Adjustment and Vacuum Adaptor. I prefer the separate vacuum adaptors, one for each base. Also, it does work with both the fixed and plunge bases. One small fault is that the scales, imperial and metric, do not have any number markings on them.

The Dewalt edge guide for compact routers is easy to install and adjust, and I found that it can also be used with the plunge base for the compact router. The adjustment markings on the base have no numbers because changing the bit would change the distance from the fence to the edge of the bit. The fence has a provision to attach an even longer piece of wood for more stability when extended to the maximum distance from the bit.

I know the edge guide says 'for fixed base' but it also attaches to the plunge base. So you are able to use this guide for both attachments.

Numbers are absent from the scale for a reason: The edge guides have holes for the user to attach additional guides or jigs that may be needed for a particular project with unique design/profile requirements. The unique user-created attachments could vary in shape, thickness, etc. thereby making a permanently numbered scale irrelevant and at worst, misleading and in-accurate. Dewalt designed this for the pros to use too.

The design is well thought out, and the guide fits securely to the Router. View of area being routed is easily viewable.

I have been using this edge guide with a shop built mortising jig. It works well, but the guide has some flex. If I am not careful the flex could translate into an inaccurate cut. A small bow has developed in the bar that connects to the router base, but the guide continues to be useful.

Well designed and made tool that works well and is definitely worth the price. Since it's basically a required attachment, it's nice to see a reasonable price as they could get away with charging more.

One con, the black on black ruler markings are hard to read, but it's not much of a con since I doubt many people use them; pretty much always better and more accurate to use a marking gauge or other tools to do the layout and then set the fence to those markings. If you have to repeat a setup, again much better to cut a block that registers the right distance between cutter and fence.

One tip: buy some 3/4" UHMW tape and put it on the fence faces, being sure to wrap it around each end so the tape edge never grabs the work. For those who haven't used it, UHMW plastic is like solid teflon and will make the fence slide on the work much more easily. However that will also skew the integral fence ruler measurements by the thickness of the tape (~1/32"), so if you do use that ruler you need to take that into account.

This only works with the DEWALT DWP611. It is a must-have add-on to your router. Great price, good quality and mine arrived within a few days of purchasing.

Used it and can't really complain, but for my next project I've now bought the more robust DW6913 router edge guide that fits the plunge base and also the fixed base on the larger 1-3/4 hp DW616 router.

As an edge guide, the DNP618 is completely adequate. I would have liked to have seen some kind of integrated dust collection as the top fed dust collector just doesn't do much for you on edge cuts.

Where I do find this guide extremely useful is as a connection point for making circle jigs. It has worked exceptionally well in this regard and for the price, was well worth purchasing, if only for that purpose.

The long bar attaches securely to the router base with two screws and locks in solidly. It is relatively easy to install and remove with very little time or effort.

When making router jigs, the tricky part is always the router attachment point. This bar solves that problem with a versatile adjustment point for other applications.

i would definitely recommend this to others and would purchase it again.
