5.0 out of 5 stars awsome power, June 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: DEWALT DW006K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 1/2-Inch Drill/Hammerdrill Kit? (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have had a DW006 drill since they came out. This is the most powerful cordless drill I have used. I checked out the other 24 volt drills and they don't come close. This thing has the torque of a big corded 1/2 inch drill, but it is also a great hammer drill! The special chuck holds bits solidly, even when drilling in concrete all day. The drill has a special "spindle lock" feature which locks the transmission when you press the button so you can really get the chuck tight. It is heavier than the 18 volt DW997, but for real heavy duty work the weight should not be that big of a deal. The side handle is a great feature and it has a metal clamp, not like the plastic of the other brands. The drill is really rugged, like a big corded drill. There is also a new AC converter attachment that they sell as an accessory.

4.0 out of 5 stars A strong performing workhorse, December 27, 2000

This review is from: DEWALT DW006K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 1/2-Inch Drill/Hammerdrill Kit? (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is another example of Dewalt's continuing excellence in cordless tools. I am a contractor and need to drill lots and lots of holes in concrete and wood to wire customer's homes. I regularly run drill bits from 1/4" right up to 3 1/2". I have been using Dewalt's 18V system along with corded drills until now. The 24V DW006K has the extra torque to utilize larger bits for longer times. The chuck is easy to use and holds the bits firmly. I would highly recommend this drill to anyone who needs commercial dependability and performance.

Great torque, plenty of power. This drill gets the job done. It is a little heavy to use for long periods of time. Fast changer. Lots of use between charges. Great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars 24 volt drill/hammerdrill, April 25, 2001
This review is from: DEWALT DW006K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 1/2-Inch Drill/Hammerdrill Kit? (Tools & Home Improvement)
The 24 volt cordless hammerdrill is awesome to say the least. It packs raw power for a cordless drill. It's great for drilling though wall studs, pipes and electrical work. It's also great for masonry projects too. For the rough brutal work this drill does the battery lasts a while. If you are doing any big projects and you hate dragging the cord along with you I highly recommend this drill. Hey, even after you get it and you decide you like carrying the cord you can buy the 24 volt converter and plug it in!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars "REAL" Power but No Clutch, October 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: DEWALT DW006K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 1/2-Inch Drill/Hammerdrill Kit? (Tools & Home Improvement)
This drill is so much overkill for 95% of the work you're likely to do. My Makita 12V is my usual side-arm. This DeWalt 24V is heavy, pricey, no clutch, and comes with only 1 battery. BUT, for that 5% when you need this much power, it is THE TOOL. Had to drill many 1/2" holes through 4" concrete. Went through like butter. The carbide-jawed chuck is a dream. My old 1/2" drill spun big bits all the time.

That's all that needs to be said. Not a single flaw found in over two months of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid for the tradesperson, September 20, 2000
This review is from: DEWALT DW006K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 1/2-Inch Drill/Hammerdrill Kit? (Tools & Home Improvement)
Solid performance... I am very disappointed that kit comes with only one (1) battery. Power is very good. I have used other rotary hammers in the field and purchased this unit due to cordless convince. I also note that after owning and using just about every major brand of cordless tools, this was my first DeWalt purchase. Pricey if used the AC/DC converter. Overall, a very solid choice for the tradesmen and weekend warriors who are involved in serious renovation/restoration work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Director of Facilities/Contractor, December 26, 2000

DeWalt, in general, has excellent tools... and this is no exception. As a facilities director of a very old church needing lots of work, I look for tools that are easy to use, do the job right the first time, and powerfull enough for the job at hand. This is not a tool that will be your first choice for a couple of holes, and cetainly not to drive screws ( a 14-volt is a better choice for that), but when you need torque, longevity, and just plain power, this will be your #1 choice. The case is a great extra, and although only 1 battery is included, after you get the 24-v circular saw, you're on your way to a better collection!
