Dewalts 24V. Batteries only last about 35 -40 charge cycles before they die. That's from my experience of owning 6 of them all bought over a time span to have purchased all of there improved models and they all preformed the same.

We use these in a semi-controlled environment in which they are put on the charger ONLY ONCE prior to use. We are getting roughly 300 to 350 cycles out of them (though we would like more). If you're getting low number of cycles, look at your charging routine. Taking a pack off the charger and putting it back without first using roughly ~10% of the battery charge first will drastically reduce the life of the pack. The rumor is that these packs have a Sanyo variant of a common 2.4 or 2.5 Ahr Sub-C Sanyo cell inside. Sanyo makes quality cells. These packs have no smart chips inside, but do have air channels for when they are hooked up to DeWalt's charger that does have a fan. I wish DeWalt made a slower, gentler charger (3hr or overnight).

If you own the SDS drill and saw, which are expense it's worth buying the batteries or having them rebuilt. I have one of the earlier models before the batteries had fans. I bought new because I wanted ones with fans that work cooler and last longer. I wish the company would make lithium replacements that would work for these tools. It would make sense and can be done. The newer versions are lithium. I also own the optional 110 to 24 volt converter that replaces the battery so that both tools can work as corded tools. The SDS drill and the circular saw are great tools. Next time I will send the batteries to be rebuilt at about 60% of the cost.

I bought the entire line of Dewalt 24 volt cordless tools. That includes the power saw, drill driver and saws all. I am impressed with the tools but the batteries suck. the original batteries lasted two years with constant use as I have my own contracting business. After the batteries failed I sent them to BatteryPackRebuilders.com, even though I am sure they do a good rebuilding job the batteries only last about a year but it's less than half the price of a new battery. Being in the construction business it's a real pain to be sending batteries back for rebuilding. If you're in the construction business you have to have at least double the 24 volt batteries you need because half are always out being rebuilt. I would really like to see Dewalt come out with a lithium ion battery replacement for the 24 volt line of tools as the cordless tools are awesome except for the original batteries.

We use several DeWalt portable tools in the course of our business, and we rely heavily on the consistent availability of battery power, The DeWalt 24-volt 2.4 amp hour battery stands up to the daily challenge by providing power we can count on when it is needed.

I was unfortunate to buy a 24VDC sawz-all, Dewalt went to a 36VDC tool. These batteries really should last longer. I have a basket full of 18VDC batteries as well. Mine with only occasional use only seems to last for only two years. Not really a great value.

Purchased for use in manufacturing and maintenance. Have tried remanufactured batteries, but they don't work as well as the DeWalt batteries. Only down side I have is the price. If they were a little less, I would have given them 5 stars.

These batteries hold their charge as well as any other. I gave four stars because I believe that Dewalt should offer a trade-in allowance the way car batteries do. These batteries are expensive and difficult to dispose of responsibly.
