5.0 out of 5 stars Wood Junkie
This is a great chuck. A great design, well engineered, and well made. I don't happen to own any DeWalt drills, so maybe they've all got chucks this good -- if so, I've been missing out. This is the only keyless chuck I've encountered that lets you effortlessly lock bits dead tight and release them just as easily: just slide the collar back slightly and twist. Best of...

have used these DeWalt chucks quite a bit in my line of work as a union tinner. had our tool crib send one out and it lasted two days before it crapped out on me. sent it back for a replacement and the same thing happened to the replacement, turns out one of the three jaws would get jammed and not align with the others when tightening. even when it was working, i...

Best of all, it only takes one hand (at least with my drivers). Worth every penny, particularly given the quality.

I use it primarily with a pair of Bosch PS20-2 and PS40-2 drivers, and it works flawlessly with both, but I particularly like it with the PS20-2. I even use it chucked into my drill press if I need to make a lot of bit changes -- the one hand operation gets you spoiled in a big hurry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A high quality, must have accessory for impact drivers, October 8, 2008
This review is from: DEWALT DW0521 Quick Connect Impact Driver Conversion Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was surprised by the heft of this chuck upon opening the package, and it was immediately obvious that this was not some Chinese made piece of junk that is so often what you get these days (It's made in Japan). Frankly, this is the best keyless chuck I've used on a drill. It uses the impact driver itself the tighten or loosen the chuck while you hold the it with one hand. It really makes it effortless. I'll now be using my impact driver for most of my drilling tasks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, no need to buy a separate drill now, October 28, 2008

I bought this for use with my Bosch PS40-2. I couldn't justify spending more money on another drill since I rarely need to use a drill attachment, but this Dewalt conversion chuck has been extremely useful. Like another reviewer said, its got a surprising amount of heft to it, but not enough to make my driver feel imbalanced, and the chuck itself feels very well constructed. Pop the attachment in, hold the collar and pull the trigger, and vice versa for taking it out.

I would say to buy another brand for mine broke with very little use after the warranty expired.
I thought I would give Dewalt another chance since this is made in the USA. Usually I buy Makita or Milwaukee but save your money on this chuck unless you have money to burn!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool!, December 11, 2010
This review is from: DEWALT DW0521 Quick Connect Impact Driver Conversion Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have had the Dewalt quick connect for two years and it's been great. Others haven't had
the same luck, but it works and works well for me. I use mine with a Ryobi impact driver, so
it's gets a work out. It built a large studio including installing a metal roof. I use it for everything.
Get it from Amazon so that if there is a problem you can send it back.
Or better yet, try one out locally to see if it's for you, but make certain you can return it if you
don't like it or the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars quick connect chuck, March 10, 2009
This review is from: DEWALT DW0521 Quick Connect Impact Driver Conversion Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a high quality chuck that holds bits very well and is easy to connect to the 1/4 inch quick change drill chuck. It can be difficult to release the drill bits after use, and there were no instructions on how to tighten and release the bits once in the chuck.

I use this chuck with a Dewalt 1/4-inch impact driver. By simply pushing the chuck into the front of the driver it locks securely in place. Removal is also a snap by simpy pulling the collar away from the driver to release the chuck. This is a heavy duty chuck and has a keyless feature which makes it much easier to use than the hassle of a key. No more "where did I put that key?" and no more key slipping out of the chuck to evoke a cuss word or two. I have had this chuck for only a short time but have drilled numerous holes and have had satisfactory results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very cool and time saving, but not very intuitive to work with, June 23, 2011

This review is from: DEWALT DW0521 Quick Connect Impact Driver Conversion Chuck (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a pretty cool device that allowed me to use my impact in ways that I didn't know possible. Very, very solid and very useful. Once I read the instructions it all went well... which leads me to the downside... You'll never get it to work properly until you read and figure out the instructions. I know, I know... it's as simple as reading them, but you must take into account two things: 1. Sometimes you have to lend someone your tools, and they'll need specific instructions to make it work (a time consuming task every now and then); and, 2. For those of us who are used to other DeWalt's tools (like the DCD950 drill/driver), this conversion chuck can be awkward to work with, specially when you switch between tools.
I read someone couldn't make it work, so I guess there are people trying to use the tool without reading instructions first ;)

At first I could not get the drill bit secured in the chuck, kept coming loose, then I read the instructions. Duh! Just hold the chuck and either reverse the drill or go forward and it 'the chuck' ratchets open or it closes. Once that was figured out it worked great!
