These drill bits are simply amazing - 10 out of 5 stars!!!! I cut 20 5/16" holes through 1/4" stainless steel almost as fast as I can drill through a piece of wood (use cutting lubricant for this and start with a smaller bit first - you don't need to start with an 1/8, you can start larger) and on the last hole, the bit was just as sharp a when I started. They cut as a high quality tool should, by cutting steel into long shavings, not little pieces. Oh and if you have to cut regular old mild steel, the metal doesn't stand a chance. I wonder what they do to aluminum, they probably eat it for breakfast!

For a set of bits that can cut stainless like butter, the price is also amazing!

Love them!

I've always used dollar store drill bits before this set, and after breaking the better part of two different sets of cheap bits, I decided to get something a little more enduring. These bits are great, they cut metal and wood like butter. The pilot tip is awesome, now I can use a hand drill in cases where with junk bits, I definitely would have used my drill press. A couple words of caution, these bits bite hard into plastic (sometimes when the pilot tip breaks through, rest of the bit grabs and tears through), so go slow.

These drill bits are the envy of all my friends. They are expensive compared to other drill bits of less quality, but very well worth the price after you have had a chance to use them. They make drilling effortlessly when compared to titanium drill bits.

Over the years, I got sick and tired of using inferior drill bits so I bought this set.

Before the purchase, I had bought and tested a $41 Irwin Industrial Tools 10233CB Unibit 1/16-Inch 9-Steps Cobalt Step Drill Bit and had great success with it. I was able accomplish a difficult task - drill 94 penny sized holes (3/4") in a heavy gauge stainless steel panel. The bit was pretty much shot after that, but it did the job to my satisfaction. (using a drill press)

I figured the hefty price tag of $84.21 (AUG 2009) for this set would be worth it if they were dependable.
So far in over 3 years of use, I haven't had a problem with any bit. The price has been justified.

The only negative I found with this set is the container box. Mine is very difficult to open.
I've resorted to using a screwdriver tip to pry the damn thing open.

In summary, forget about the other drill bits like titanium. Get this set and be done with it.

I replaced my old cordless drill with the Milwaukee brushless hammer drill. A top drawer tool deserves a top drawer drill bit set. I have owned several index sets over the years and finally made the wise choice of Cobalt this time. I have had quite a few projects around the house to test these bits. There is SUCH a difference in Cobalt. These bits bite true and cut fast. You will be happy you spent a little more for a whole lot more quality.

If you are like me and drill all kinds of things being the do it yourselfer, then you know that a Cobalt set will be in order. This set has the whole range and works as good as expected. The rugged case can take a drop or two, and the price was very competitive. I have not experienced resharpening and will look forward to someone educating me on that process.

These bits are super strong and very sharp and will last a long long time. I did have a few issues with them being too aggressive in certain situations. Like putting cabinets together when I was trying to do things to a specific bit depth I found that these bits just want to bite in a dig. So while they are a great bit they might be a little too great in some situations at least for me I found myself reaching for my older bits in certain situations.

I was hoping there were a couple more small sizes, as I need to repair a light fixture using a particular screw. Used the smallest bit, and it promptly broke. I'm a seasoned handyman, so I don't blame it entirely on me. Thought these would be tougher. No doubt the larger ones are.
