DEWALT DW2511 Rapid Load 26 Piece Drilling and Driving Set in Plastic Case

My initial impressions of the DeWalt Rapid Load Set was good. The kit is well stocked with the most important fittings for driling\driving and the components are high quality. However I was disappointed that I couldn't comfortably release components in the quick connector without using two hands. It feels awkward and combersome. I finally settled with the Craftsman "Speed-Lock" system. It has a true single hand operation of the quick connect tool and has a smaller diameter, which tends to not get in the way of the work!

This set is very poorly made, the drill bits break very easily.Also the quick change is way to big and it is a little hard to pull it out. The reason i gave it 3 stars is beacuse I like to use the socket adapter. And one more thing my set only came with one size of a slotted bit that didn't seem to fit any screws properly.

Having used the Craftsman version, DeWalt has managed to make more improvements on a good idea. Not having to unlock the adapter to insert components is a big plus. One adapter size for all components is another advantage. The Craftsman set has two adapters; more pieces add up to more aggravation. Great for the cabinet and furniture maker. Buy the pouch version and have all your bits at your fingertips. The best part is that it can be used with DeWalt's Self-Centering Drill & Drive system. Increased productivity at a great price.

The idea of quickly changing bits is great. It works for the screwdriver bits, allen key bits. But, unfortuantely, this does not work for the drill bits. Within 5 minutes 2 of the drill bits I was using snapped in half. I am afraid to use any of the remaining drill bits. My reason for getting this rapid load set was so that I would not have to buy 2 drills and I could switch quickly between drilling and using the screw driver. I have a choice now to go any buy more non standard drill bit attachements for this kit (which could break again)or buy a second drill. I rate this as a failed impractical attempt by Dewalt who make pretty good tools on the whole.

The pouch and tool set are very handy and convenient. The quality is high and typical of DeWalt products.

When the Rapid-Load bits and other acc. first hit the market, I was instantly fascinated. I mean how can you go wrong with such a versatile system. But I purchased my accessories without a bit/acc. holder. I had to rely on old plastic(unreliable) bit boxes---bummer! But I see now that a 26 peice set comes with a attachable case, man I was too late, but I can't miss out!
