In all seriousness, this impact wrench is fantastic. Wheel nuts, axle nuts, suspension nuts and bolts come out with ease. I purchased a corded impact wrench because I enjoy working on my cars and sometimes finding a good angle and getting enough leverage with a breaker bar is nearly impossible. I don't have an air compressor nor do I want the clutter of having one and I didn't want to purchase a cordless model for a lot more money with limited-life batteries.
With all that said, here are some tips for this product:
-Use a short 12 ga extension cord. The power of this wrench will reduce drastically with diminished current.
-If you purchase the detent pin unit, give the pin a couple passes with a file to easily remove sockets.
-Lube anything you use this wrench on to reduce the chance of breaking something.
-Probably the most important: An impact wrench builds-up power with each strike. I have no doubt this wrench puts out 300+ ft/lb, but it will take some time to build up to that torque. So hold that trigger down and beat that bolt out.
The only shortcoming I've found provided that you follow the tips above is that the trigger sometimes binds in reverse. I haven't had time to figure out if this user-error due to my gloves or maybe a defective trigger (perhaps a burr on the plastic that makes it bind), but since it only happens in reverse, it's not enough to dock this wrench even one star.
It's a little bit heavier than I expected but you need two hands to hold it when using it anyway. It's very loud when hammering but it's normal, not a con.
You must let the tool hammer on the bolt until the bolt loosens. This may take up to 30 seconds, then the bolt spins out. I used it to take the rear brake rotors off of a 3500 Sprinter van. These bolts had not been loosened in 150,000 miles. (I bought the van used ). This is going to be a permanent part of my RV toolbox.
I thought I would spend the money and treat myself to what I thought was a better electric impact wrench compared to the one I bought at Harbor Frieght 10 or so years ago for $40.00 with coupon.
Today, I needed to remove the front wheels from my Ford Ranger to replace the sway bar links.
I was excited to use this for the first time. It would not budge the lug nuts. I left it to hammer on one for a good 45 seconds which seemed an eternity. Tried it on another lug nut. Nothing. I let it spin free for a minute thinking maybe it needed to be run in some, and tried again. Still didn't work.
Pulled out the old Harbor Freight unit and it spun the same nuts off almost instantly.
Based on positive reviews, perhaps some of these Dewalt units are defective and it is the luck of the draw as to whether or not you get a good one. I am returning the one I have and really don't want to chance it.

A bit heavy for easy tooling. Used it for u joint install. Made the clamp-press easier to turn, but in my case, using the hammer did the same work.Published 1 month ago by ventingisok
