This ones just right for the do-it-yourselfer, with a six-amp motor and a speed range of 0 to 2,400 strokes per minute. Stroke length is a nice 1-1/8 inches. Its unbelievably light, weighing in at just 6-1/2 pounds, and its pretty compact, as recip saws go, so even the least among us can wield it with great results and practically no fatigue.
With just an extension cord, this saw is a great alternative to a chain saw for trimming limbs and stubborn growth out in the yard.
But it reigns supreme when it comes to demolition, taking out a stud in nothing flat. The truth is, its fun to use. Its also what wed want to have on hand for things like a kitchen counter or bathroom vanity remodel, making quick work of sink cutouts. DeWalts throwing in a set of 10 blades with the saw, so you absolutely cant go wrong here. Its not the big beast you want for everyday toil, but its perfect for the homeowner, do-it-yourselfer and light contracting use.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Essential tool for Old House Owner,
By
This review is from: DEWALT DW303 Heavy-Duty 6.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had this tool for three years, and use it occasionally, usually four or five times a year. I have cut through 12 x 12 railroad ties, old cast iron pipes, wood beams, 1/4 inch steel plate, tree branches, plaster, and nail laden old growth lumber. No problems associated with the tool (though the railroad ties were a challenge to the user). Blades are easy to change, but figure on going through two or three fairly quickly on difficult jobs. Highly recommended, especially if you are doing any kind of remodeling; it all starts with demo and this tool makes that process a lot easier and quicker. Well worth the money.

Great tool for trimming trees,

This review is from: DEWALT DW303 Heavy-Duty 6.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
Easy to use and has many applicatins. I used it to trim some small trees and it cut thru 2 inch limbs with no problem. It does not weigh as much a chain saws and so it is easy to handle when atop a ladder using one hand to cut the limb.

This review is from: DEWALT DW303 Heavy-Duty 6.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
A little low on power but I can't complain condsidering it didn't cost me anything but the margins on the other tools I bought--woulda paid bigger margins at Home Despot or Lows. Nice that it comes with an assortment of extra blades. Too bad stupid DeWalt makes all their tools in Mexico...pay a little more and get a 7 lb., 10-amp corded Milwaukee Sawzall made in the US.
