The DW309K reciprocating saw is powered by a 11.8 amp motor, providing 0 to 2,900 strokes per minute and a 1-1/4-inch stroke length. Because the DW309K is equipped with a lever-action blade-changing system, you'll be changing blades in no time flat. An adjustable pushbutton shoe allows for even blade wear and longer blade life. The variable-speed dial system allows the user to select an exact speed depending on the application. The tool measures 17.5 inches in length, weighs only 8.4 pounds, and includes rubber grips for comfort and control. You'll find extra comfort and less vibration thanks to the counterbalance. When you're looking to tear it up, use the fastest, most powerful saw on the market. The tool comes with one metal cutting blade and a kit box.

This saw is great. The counter-balance system really smoothes out the saw. It doesn't vibrate back and forth as most other saws do. The quick change blade system is really easy to use. Just lift up the lever, and switch blades. I've only had it for a couple of months, but it effortlessly cut through concrete nails, steel, galvanized steel, cedar 4x4 posts... I don't know why I waited so long to buy one.

When the saw gets caught in material a few times it starts haveing problems with the guts!! I've had to take mine apart half a dozen times now and put the parts back in the slots they belong in!! Mostly where the fork fits into a small hole! Hope they fix this problem before I decide to buy another.

I like DeWalt's stuff, really, but this tool has too many problems with its new features. I don't like how the shoe falls out so easily from the unit; the first time I'm on the peak of a roof and that happens, I'm going to be really upset! The quick release doesn't have a positive feel even when the unit is new. Making sure it's latched when wearing gloves is iffy at best. Finally, and the worst bugaboo, is that the saw doesn't even move when the speed control is at 1 or below. At 1.5 it sorta kinda moves. So a good chunk of that adjustment space is useless.

I think I'll return this one and buy a Sawzall.
