I used to think all hack saws were the same, until I ran across this little beauty. The tension adjustment is perfect. I have a tendency to over tighten my blades, which warps and ruins them. This saw just clicks the blade into place at just the right tension.

Very comfortable to hold, easy to control, with a nice guard to keep you from getting hurt.

To top it all off, there is storage for blades inside the frame, so I actually have a chance of finding the blades I bought when it comes time to use the saw.

I really like this.

I picked this saw up at my local Farm & Fleet store for about $17. After taking it home and performing about a dozen test cuts in wood, metal, and plastic I felt it was a pretty good saw. Now that I have used it for over a year for various home improvement jobs I am here to say that this is a great saw. The blade changing/tensioning mechanism is fast and simple and it is easy to use. The frame is strong, the grips are very comfortable, and the DeWalt blade that came with the saw is good and sharp. I had no problem cutting any of the materials I threw at this thing. I also feel that the hand guard is a good idea (it protects your hand at that point of "breakthrough" in the end of a cut).

I highly recommend this item to anyone with a need for a quality hacksaw.

i work using hacksaw mostly everyday. in the past i purchased a few hacksaws, at first they tend to hold the blades straight but as times pass with the use of them they bend the blades and eventually the teeth keep breaking. I've only been using this for 1 week and i still have the same blade. i would have to be changing blades everyday or two with my old hacksaw. but with this beast my blades last longer. this hacksaw feels very comfortable. changing blades is very easy even a 4 yr old could do it. the guys at work love the hacksaw, its the best hacksaw they say they've used in decades of working construction. i highly recommend it n its well worth the price.

Strong & solid. This saw doesn't flex much at all. The handle is a little too large for my liking. It would be nice if it was slightly slimmer. I've got pretty big hands, but I found my right hand a little stiff after cutting through a metal tube. Also, the blade it comes with isn't very good. But, I wasn't expecting it to come with a blade at all. So, I suppose I can't really complain about a free blade, now can I?

This is a well made hacksaw. It has a solid and sturdy feel, and is easy to work with. The blade change mechanism and adjustment is easy and allows you to quickly insert a blade at the right tension. The overall balance makes it cut easily and affords you the right amount of control from each end, from either hand. With many saws, the design is optimized for the handle rather than the overall saw. This one will allow you to push and pull with equal ease.

The additional features do not measure up. Although there is blade storage and jab saw capability, the implementation is poor. The front has a rubber cap. Underneath it is the shaft from a slotted screw with a knurled head. However, the head is recessed in a way that makes the knurled head irrelevant. You need a screwdriver to work with it. It's not that I'm averse to using a screwdriver, but with a traditional hacksaw you deal with a wing nut. This hacksaw gives you a vastly improved mechanism, but if you need to deal with a screw head to get spare blades in and out, then you lose the advantage of the superb blade mounting and changing mechanism.

Using that same screw to mount a blade for use as a jab saw leaves you with a step up from a mediocre jab saw. The overall mechanism ends up being that of a bottom of the line jab saw, but you get the stability of a top-of-the line frame.

Another minor incnvenience is that at over 16.5 inches long, it won't sit lengthwise in the drawer of my 27 inch wide roller cabinet, which is unusual for a hacksaw. It should fit fine in a standard toolbox though.

If this saw never claimed to store blades or to be a jab saw, it would still be a good saw. But those aspects should have been an integral part of the design rather than an afterthought.

This thing is a tank! It is so solid feeling, you'd swear the blade was welded in place to the frame! I've used a lot of different hack saws, and this one is by far the best built that I've come across. Definitely worth every penny!

I wanted a good hack saw for work because let's face it, cheap hack saws don't "cut it."

Anyway this one does a great job and I am glad I have it when I need it.

This is not your ordinary elcheapo hacksaw.
It will do any job you demand of it.

This saw is worth the extra money. It is easy to change blades and the two hand grip is very effective. Replacement 12 inch blades are a little harder to find and a bit more expensive but it is worth the cost to use this saw.
