You have to have this flange to safely use a diamond blade or cut of wheel. I can't believe that DeWalt doesn't include this part with their grinders.

Ok Bought this little thingy to go with a blade like the other reviewer said was needed or helpful
at least. It cost 2.50 but shipping was more than twice that...they the silly vendor over packed this itty thing in a huge box for it's tiny size. And arrived in brandnew like condition which it was. A small packing envelope perhaps with bubble or foam lining would have been much smarter and greener and cost the vendor or me the customer a lot less to mail.....and gone first class probably too. Anyway it's what it is and since it's going into the stocking for Xmas with the blades I bought with the saw itself then that person might have a better take on it. If I needed it or not I'll find out. Otherwise no doubt at worst it's a spare that cost 2-3 times it's asking price to ship. Was not going green via the huge over sized box.....ok small box as far as boxes go but huge for this item.
Have a happy holiday if anyone is reading this...as if you would review a washers review????

This Backing Flange is designed for placing other types of blades on a small DeWalt angle grinder. It works well for its intended purpose.
