The DeWalt DW5204 4-piece premium percussion masonry drill bit set is used primarily for drilling small diameter holes in masonry, concrete, rock, and artificial stone. DeWalt built each bit with a rock carbide tip that maximizes carbon surface contact for an extended bit life. And with the 4-flute design, the bits remove debris as you work for fast, efficient drilling. For added safety, each bit is designed with three flats on the shank that prevent the bit from slipping back into the chuck, and an innovative tip that reduces walking and increases accuracy. Used primarily to drill holes for mechanical anchors, these bits fit into standard 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch chucks. This 4-piece set includes the following bits: 3/16-by-3-inch, 1/4-by-4-inch, 5/16-by-6-inch, and 3/8-by-6-inch.

High quality masonry drill bits. They work like a charm with a high powered hammer drill. It took just a few seconds to drill two inches into concrete. They also work for drilling into brick and concrete cinder blocks. I bought these because it seems like most construction workers have a whole box of Dewalt brand items. They can't all be wrong.

It's like I had been living in a cave before using this. They went through my concrete wall like (relatively) nothing. I could feel the bit murdering the concrete into a dusty gravel, even when it came across the hardest sections where it would otherwise have seemed stuck. I had no idea my humble drill was capable of taking down concrete. And I had no idea how much specified drill bits can make the difference. I'm 20 years old and I'm very new to this world. But after trying this, I'm massively excited to start collecting all sorts of bits and discover what else there is out there.

Regarding Quality:
These things feel like no other regular bits. The metal used is much stronger, and you can tell right out of the box just by the interesting finish. Holding this tool in your hand really merits some respect. It feels strong and characteristic like a bullet. The spirals have a special recognizable pattern and the metal gives off its own characteristic smell. And they're a little yellow-ish. Telling these apart in a large toolkit will be a snap.

Installing a new patio in my backyard and had 3 concrete slabs to remove. They were far too heavy and thick to pick up in one piece

Enter this concrete chisel.

Technique used:
1) Drill pilot holes into concrete as deep as I could with the drill bits and a cordless dewalt hammer drill
2) Used Chisel (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NIBFT4/ref=cm_cr_mts_prod_img) and a sledge hammer to then break off pieces of concrete
3) used angle grinder to cut through the rebar

The only hammer drill I had was a cordless Dewalt. i was concerned when purchasing these that the cordless drill would not be able to provide enough omph, but I was totally wrong. The concrete was a mix of stone and concrete. Two of the concrete pieces had rebar inside. These drill bits chomped through the concrete easily and showed no sign of giving up. Several times I had to stop work and let the drill bits cool down as there was smoke coming from the holes, but after a couple of minutes they were ready to go again.

Another great dewalt product.

All in all, great product for a great price.

Ordered the Dewalt DW5204 Concrete Bits and these have been working out really well.

PACKAGE:

The package arrive damaged. These come in a little plastic pouch which was ripped when the item arrived. The bits were still in the package but just a ripped package so have to be careful now that the bits don't fall out but not a big deal.

DRILL BITS:

The bits have not broken and are still working like new three weeks later of constant use. Using these to drill holes into the wall in order to put anchors to hang items. The drill bits go in really easy without having to put a lot of pressure and have not been chipping the concrete.

Not much else to say other then not a bad item for the price. The packaging isn't to great but wasn't bought for the pretty package.

Ordered May 2013. Made in Germany, very good quality. I needed to drill 12 total 3/8" holes in my paving stones to anchor a gazebo. Started with the smallest bit and worked up to the biggest. Went way smoother and faster than I expected. I ordered two sets just in case but did not even open the second set. The last hole went just as smooth as the first so I would expect a good life time for the difficult application. I used a super cheapo Harbour Freight rotohammer to the tune of $35 because it would cost the same to rent one and now I have one in the tool chest for applications like this. I do not do stuff like this enough to justify buying a heavy duty quality rotohammer. These bits worked great but I do not think I would get the same results if I was using my regular non hammer drill.

I got these primarily so I could mount some signs on my stone pillars--into the stone, not mortar. It did okay on the first two holes (same stone), but on the next, it just wasn't cutting it. I switched to the 1/4" and it did a bit better, so I assume the bit just couldn't take it. Was a tad disappointed it couldn't manage more than two holes. It's possible I wasn't doing something right, so if you know better, then good for you. But for me it didn't quite work out. On the other hand, it does just fine in mortar, so your mileage may vary.

These are designed to be used in a drill with a hammer function. That is not the same as an impact driver. I needed these to drill 3/8" about 40 holes for concrete anchors. Worked great, bit still looks pretty good too. Keep solid pressure down on the bit with a hammer drill and you'll drill a 3-4" whole in a matter of seconds. These work by actually chiseling out the whole basically. The drill flutes are actually just there to remove the broken up masonry.
