Too bad Home Depot doesn't sell DeWalt bits anymore. What a stupid mistake. I'm sick of wasting my time with those junk Vermont American and other cheap bits that the local hardware stores sell. Maybe they get higher margins. I now buy online. I got this set from DeWalt. In comparison, the last VA set I got at Home Depot, the 3/8 bit completely broke apart drilling one measley hole into stucco! I have another old bit that has drilled 100s of holes into the same stucco with no significant wear. They don't make them like they used to with the exception of the DeWalt ones here. I've used these bits in concrete and they work GREAT. They have some weird-angled point that really works. Costs 2X, but these are well worth it. Comes with a, not great, but usable pouch.

After purchasing, owning and enjoying countless Dewalt products for ~10 years it saddens me to trash this product. What happened Dewalt? How did the famous yellow fall so low?

I had an almost identical set of Dewalt bits purchased 5+ years ago. I never had a complaint about them. They worked great. Never needed to resharpen them and used them as needed around the house. I had expected a flawless experience with Dewalt tools based on previous experiences so I knew what to expect from the old yellow company. Saddly, a few bits had grown legs and walked off over the years. It was time to buy a new set. Amazon to the rescue with a set that looks and feels just like the old set that performed faithfully for years. Item arrived timely and well packaged (as usual for Amazon).

Then everything went wrong.

I picked them up and used them as usual with the same drill. They bits are worthless. Three bits went dull on the same day and the same project. Wow must have been an exceptionally strong block. I took a ride to a local depot of home products that we all know and love and picked up an extra 1/2" Dewalt bit. Went back to work and same story. The bits are absolute junk. I don't care how cheap they are because they simply don't work. I ended up using a slightly smaller old Dewalt bit from my original set purchased years ago. The size was not ideal but the bits absolutely demolished the block and cut several 3" deep holes. The old, tired, worn bits were in every way better than the new bits they were supposed to replace.

What was the cause of all my trouble? After close examination, I realized there were imposters in the Dewalt family. The bits I had from years ago looked, smelt, and tasted the same as the new bits I bought from Amazon and the local store.

I dont usually write a review but I feel compelled every now and then when a product is garbage or outstanding. I have this set for about 3 months and just started using the second 1/4" bit. Now that may seem like a short amount of time but I am a Audio/Video Tech in NYC. Which means a bunch of anchors in concrete or bricks. On the same 1/4" bit Ive hammered through tile in a spa and mounted a sat dish on a roof, and even though the end of the bit is near gone it still eats through cement. In all if you need a simple hammer bit set for your cordless you cant go wrong with this one

These are great drill bits for drilling through concrete. I used them with my DeWalt hammer drill and it drilled through the brick wall in my garage like butter!

This is a Dewalt product. It says made in Germany. I never would have expected this when i used it.
I drilled through some bunker concrete with my impact drill and after 1 inch of drilling, the diamond head blunted into a square head. I had an el cheapo made in china drill bit which drilled through another 3 holes just fine.
Masonry bits are always tipped with Tungsten Carbide, this Rock Carbide really isn't it....
This is not acceptable.

came ripped and missing 1 bit, but I had to use it right away and didn't bother with contacting amazon about it.
The bits worked great on the first couple jobs. But, once past the first 3 drillings into brick and mortar they lost their grip.

After first several minutes with this bit set with Porter-Cable PC650HD with high speed drilling, the 3/8 drill bit's tip broke. The rest of bit still works and drill another hold in concrete. Maybe it can not use with high speed.

I purchased this bit set to drill holes through my brick house to run some antenna/satellite/network wires into the house. I was able to drill through the mortar joints using my cheap Craftsman 19 volt drill, no hammer action needed. I was through in maybe 30 seconds using the lower speed setting. For the largest hole, I first used one of the smaller bits for a pilot, then I used the 1/2 inch bit, but I really don't think I even needed a pilot hole.

My only complaint is that the bits were *barely* long enough to get all the way through, but they just made it. Before drilling, I went to a corner of my house where I could evaluate the depth of the bricks and held the bit and drill up to confirm it would be just long enough. I may have purchased a longer set if I knew the length of the bits.

I have not tried drilling directly into the bricks themselves or into concrete, however, the fact I was able to use these bits for their intended purpose without needing to buy, rent, or borrow a hammer drill is definitely worth 5 starts in my book.
