I bought two of them for my saw, right and left. I use them all the time. For precise and safe cuts, you need to have at least one of these to secure the workpiece against the fence. You can use your hands and still get it right (enough) 90% of the time, and safely 99% of the time, but why take chances with expensive wood and a limited number of fingers?? These clamps are expensive but very well built and the quick release really works the way it's supposed to.

After buying several DeWalt accessories for my saw, I have to say that this is one of the better-made pieces, but it is not cheap! It mounts in one of the front holes, and clamps your work against the fence. The threads are on a flip up piece that makes it easy to slide the bolt into place before you clamp your work down. It's nice, but be aware that your paying a premium to DeWalt!

Update: Price has come down quite a bit since I purchased this item.

Overall, PERFECT! (Except the price...):
Works smoothly when clamping. I also really like the quick release function....operates smooth, and I don't have to unscrew a bunch of turns to use it on wider stock. I use it to clamp the piece being but, and more often, when I need to make a stop for repetitive cuts of the same length. Find it on an auction site at a great price ;)

This is a very well made clamp and is PERFECTLY designed. I wouldn't change a thing. Super easy to use, easily moves from one side to the other. Sometimes I use it to clamp the stock being cut. When cutting short pieces I use it to clamp an end stop into place. This item is priced rather high at the time I write this review. I was able to find a better price at auction somewhere on the web (you can guess where). Another reviewer said having 2 is a good thing. I could imagine having 2, but having 1 is enough for most purposes. They are pricey enough that the cost will keep me from getting a second one. Even at full price, though, it's worth it to buy one.

This clamp is something you really need with the DeWalt saw, as others have said. It keeps your fingers away from the blade while you're making a cut, and is really handy on long or short workpieces. I don't understand the 'pricey' comments some have left. . . compared to what? Where else are you going to get this, but from DeWalt? It's a custom accessory, designed specifically for the DeWalt saw, and it's not a high production run item, so naturally it's going to be 'pricey'!

This is a very good clamp and I personnaly don't think the price is all that bad, and you should use one just to be safe. With that said, well, I get lazy and don't use mine as often as I should.

I always used to hold parts up against the fence by hand or sometimes used sping clamps. However, I had trouble getting clean mitres when cutting base molding in position.

This clamp holds it firmly against the fence (provided the piece is long enough to cover one side of the table) while being fast and easy to adjust. Once I fine-tuned the back mitre adjustment stops, you can barely tell where I joined pieces on the long runs or in the corners. This is particularly critical on finshed wood where you can't hide imperfections with caulk/spackling/paint, but I want all my product to look good before finshing.

Wish I had bought it a long time ago.

This product is adequate for my needs. Unfortunately it's suitable for clamping only large items as it is, but I didn't buy it for any other reason. I believe it's well made and works as intended. The quick adjust feature is nice also. I bought it for a good price, but I think it's still a little expensive for what it does.

This is a good clamp for large stock; it works well and is very easy to remove when not needed.

My two complaints: 1) it doesn't work well with small stock, since the clamp face sits slightly above the bed and the clamp screw is centered vertically on the face -- when clamping a smaller piece, the face tends to pivot (top forward) because the clamping pressure is too high, and 2) the clamp can become overtightened, and require extra effort to loosen after a cut it completed.

Otherwise, I find this clamp to be very useful for most of the cutting I do. It is also trivially easy to lift and remove the clamp when not needed, which I appreciate a LOT.

This holds the wood well, but I do not use it very often.
